Southern California –-(Ammoland.com) It used to be called suicide by cop. That is when some insane guy points a toy gun at a police officer fully expecting that the officer will kill him. It is a tragic situation at best. It is made worse when the next of kin complains about unnecessary violence.

A man was walking through an apartment complex in Houston, TX when he was approached by a man who demanded he turn over all of his valuables. It’s not currently clear if the suspect was armed or not.

One of the worst droughts in California’s history has devastated more than a half-million acres of the most fertile farmland in America. In communities like Sacramento, “water police” go from door to door to enforce conservation measures. There’s even a mobile “app” to report neighbors to city authorities so they can be fined for wasting water.
With the Sierra snowpack at 4% of normal as of May 20, Californians will desperately need what little water remains behind its dams this summer. Authorities have warned some towns like Folsom—home of Folsom Lake—to expect daily rationing of 50 gallons per person, a 60% cut from average household usage. ST. LOUIS (AP) — Serving aboard an American submarine was one of the most dangerous assignments in World War II, with nearly 1 in 5 crew members losing their lives somewhere in the ocean depths.
Paul Wittmer of suburban St. Louis has spent years working to ensure that those men — more than 3,600 sailors — are remembered, including a book that has been years in the making. Wittmer, a submarine veteran who turned 90 last week, has conducted research for eight years at the National Archives at St. Louis, which houses millions of military personnel records. SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — After 17 years on the force, San Jose Police officer Huan Nguyen had learned not to get emotionally involved in his work. But then one got through.
On May 6, a road rage slaying in his Little Saigon neighborhood, on the streets where he grew up and now patrols, took the life of a Vietnamese immigrant like himself. Baloo the brown bear, Leo the lion and Shere Khan the tiger, (nicknamed the BLT) were found in an Atlanta drug dealer’s apartment in poor condition when they were cubs. The CIA has been bombing Pakistan’s domestic buildings more than any other targets over the past decade of the drone war launched by the US, says the latest research by the Bureau of Investigative Journalism.
Almost two thirds, or over 60 percent, of all US drone strikes in Pakistan targeted domestic buildings,says joint research conducted by the Bureau of Investigative Journalism (BIJ), a London-based non-profit news group, along with Forensic Architecture, a research unit based at Goldsmiths University, London, and Situ Research in New York. Military leaders in Thailand assumed all political power in the country on Saturday after dissolving the country’s Senate, the last democratic institution left standing after the military seized power two days ago.
According to reports, former Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra is being held in a “safe place” after being summoned on Friday along with nearly 200 others, including prominent politicians, outspoken academics and journalists, said to be “political associates” with the ruling party.
