AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Inclement weather made rescue crews in Central Texas suspend the search for a sheriff’s deputy who radioed for help minutes before her empty patrol car was found submerged by floodwaters, while heavy rains in West Texas caused dozens of streets and some houses to flood.

Roger Wade, a spokesman for the Travis County Sheriff’s Office, said the search would resume Friday morning. “We were searching all day and we will continue searching until we find something,” he added.   Continue reading “Search for Texas deputy suspended, but will resume”

If you rely on your Oklahoma Driver’s license to get into a secure area like a federal building or an airplane, things will be changing. Oklahoma is one of a handful of states that hasn’t complied with a federal mandate to make our driver’s licenses more secure.

Beginning in 2015, you won’t be able to use your Oklahoma Driver’s license as an ID to get through security at federal buildings. And in 2016 you won’t be able to use it at the airport either.

The FBI added suspected cop shooter Eric Frein to its 10 Most Wanted fugitive list today and announced a reward of $100,000 for information leading to his capture. That is in addition to an existing $75,000 reward from Pennsylvania Crime Stoppers.

The FBI’s action came on the day that Pennsylvania State Trooper, Cpl. Bryon Dickson, was buried in an emotional ceremony.

The search for Frein, 31, entered its sixth day after two Pennsylvania state troopers were ambushed late Friday at the barracks in Blooming Grove Township. Schools in the area are closed for the second day as the dragnet continues for Frein, a survivalist and gun expert who often worked on films about war and the military.   Continue reading “Suspected Cop Shooter Eric Frein on FBI’s Most Wanted List With $100,000 Reward”

The M1 Garand’s rich history continues to grow as this rifle remains a popular option among collectors and competitors.

The rifle taking shape on John Cantius Garand’s drawing board in the 1920’s, even to 1932, was a very radical departure from its predecessors, not merely because it was a semi-automatic.   Continue reading “The Ever Popular and Collectable M1 Garand”

SHERIDAN, Wyoming — In much of the nation, it’s been a couple generations since those “remember when” days of the milkman bringing fresh milk to the door in glass jars, but a milkman in northeast Wyoming has resurrected those bygone days for more than 125 families in the area.

Frank Wallis drives a large pickup truck instead of a delivery van and wears a Carhart coat and ball cap rather than a white uniform, but he’s still “the milkman” to Wyoming residents who are grateful for the chance to drink milk straight from a cow they can see and touch.   Continue reading “Recluse milkman makes rounds in northeast Wyoming delivering fresh milk to customers”

The English guy lives near Le Bugue in the Dordogne and at the time he was stopped he was as pis*ed as a fart…

The gendarme signals to him to wind down the window then asks him if he has been drinking, and with a slurring speech the English guy replies; ‘Yes, this morning I was at my (hic)..daughter’s wedding, and as I don’t like church much I went to the cafe opposite and had several beers.’    Continue reading “A pair of yucks”

I received this from a good friend of mine tonight.

Had to go to the girls’ school tonight for a gathering. Listened to the principal talk, saw the girls’ classrooms, and had a small dinner.

What made me quite irritated after the first 10 minutes, was while the principal was talking to the parents, she showed the success rate under the common core standards. Talk about absolute SHIT!   Continue reading “Common Core”

The municipal identification cards that New York plans to start issuing next year in an effort to make life easier for undocumented immigrants will come with an added benefit so enticing the hope is that many other New Yorkers may sign up for them too: coupon books offering free tickets or other discounts at 33 of the city’s leading cultural institutions.

Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall; the Bronx Zoo and the New York Botanical Garden; the American Museum of Natural History, the Snug Harbor Cultural Center and many others will offer a variety of perks — most of them equivalent to a basic one-year membership — to holders of the new ID cards, which are expected to be made available to any city resident over age 14, regardless of their legal status.    Continue reading “New York City ID Cards Coming With Cultural Benefits”

The robot seems to obey Icaac Asimov's Laws of Robotics. Asimov wrote the story which inspired the film, 'I, Robot'Yahoo News

Anyone excited by the idea of stepping into a driverless car should read the results of a somewhat alarming experiment at Bristol’s University of the West of England, where a robot was programmed to rescue others from certain doom… but often didn’t.

The so-called ‘Ethical robot’, also known as the Asimov robot, after the science fiction writer whose work inspired the film ‘I, Robot’, saved robots, acting the part of humans, from falling into a hole: but often stood by and let them trundle into the danger zone.   Continue reading “Robot with “morals” makes surprisingly deadly decisions”
