The bipartisan Surveillance State Repeal Act, if passed, would repeal dragnet surveillance of Americans’ personal communications, overhaul the federal domestic surveillance program, and provide protections for whistleblowers.

House lawmakers Mark Pocan (D-Wis.) and Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) are co-sponsoring bill H.R.1466, which was introduced on Tuesday and would repeal the 2001 Patriot Act, limit powers of the FISA Amendments Act, and prohibit retaliation against federal national security whistleblowers, according to The Hill.   Continue reading “Bipartisan bill would repeal Patriot Act, cut down American surveillance”

I had been wanting to interview Paul Craig Roberts for a long time already. For many years I have been following his writings and interviews and every time I read what he had to say I was hoping that one day I would have the privilege do interview him about the nature of the US deep state and the Empire. Recently, I emailed him and asked for such an interview, and he very kindly agreed. I am very grateful to him for this opportunity.   Continue reading “The Saker interviews Paul Craig Roberts”

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Jose Lantigua’s family appeared to be living the American Dream. The Cuban immigrant claimed he had a heroic military career and earned numerous degrees before running a successful furniture business. He owned a Florida beachfront condo and a new home atop a verdant North Carolina mountain.

But in 2012, as his Circle K Furniture slid deeper into debt, those who knew Lantigua said he’d made some odd decisions: he ordered tons of new furniture on the company dime for his family’s many homes. He replaced the bookkeeper he’d used for years with a relative. He built a panic room with steel doors inside his North Carolina hideaway.   Continue reading “Suspicion surrounded Florida businessman who faked his death”

Entrepreneurs’ versus the corporatists’ mode of business culture are separated by a vastly different view of enterprise. The former deems his work as innovative, creative and beneficial to customers. The later see the corporate organization as an institution end of itself. Competition makes the business pioneer sharp and driven, while any competitor is targeted for demise within the corporative culture. Buyouts of ventures that show promise may be a payoff reward for the struggling enterpriser, but the corporatist CEO sees the absorption of new technology as a twofold gain. Acquiring the means to create or advance market share and stamping out any future competitive threats.   Continue reading “Destructive Centralization and the GE Corporatist Culture”

HOUSTON (FOX 26) – Pedro Rivera is 53 years old, Hispanic, and a retired military man. He’s also part of a growing number of Hispanic Texans pushing for stronger immigration enforcement, including the passage of SB 185, which would stop cities from implementing policies banning local cops from asking immigration-related questions.

“I’m an American citizen and I believe in the rule of law,” Rivera said. “And being Hispanic, I should not be granted special privilege in avoiding the law. We need officers to have all the tools available to them to keep us safe. That includes asking the question, when you’re being detained for a crime or being arrested for an offense, ‘ are you here illegally? Are you a US citizen?’”   Continue reading “Hispanic activists organizing In support of tougher immigration laws”

The fight against the controversial Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) agreement continues as a possible April vote nears. The United States and 11 other Latin American and Asian nations are working out the final details of the secret agreement that would affect around 40 percent of the global economy. Recently representatives of several Japanese non-profit digital rights groups presented a joint statement describing the threats the TPP represents to Japan’s culture. The organizations believe the extension of copyright terms will threaten the anime and fan-art communities. They cite a provision that allows authorities to act on alleged violations without a formal complaint. Critics of the trade deal also fear the loss of sovereignty by the individual nations and an increase in power for transnational corporate bodies.   Continue reading “Trans-Pacific Partnership Vote Nears, Resistance Builds”
