Richard Esch was 16 years old when the wife of a police officer struck him and his 3 friends with her SUV, killing his best friend and irreparably injuring and traumatizing the survivors in Ontario, Canada.

“He was my best friend,” he said, holding a photo of deceased Derek Majewski.

The United States aims to use new sanctions imposed on North Korea over the cyber attack on Sony Pictures to cut off the country’s remaining links to the international financial system, a senior U.S. Treasury official said on Tuesday.

Casey was the 13th CIA Director from 1981 until he left in January 1987. He died not long after of a brain tumor in May 1987. (AP) — A suburban Chicago police officer had better and safer options than to fire beanbags to subdue a confused, knife-wielding 95-year-old World War II veteran, a prosecutor told the court Tuesday at the outset of the officer’s trial on a felony reckless conduct charge in the man’s death.

With all of their police equipment, training and “common sense,” Craig Taylor and the other Park Forest officers didn’t have to storm into John Wrana’s room at an assisted living center on July 26, 2013, Cook County State’s Attorney Lynn McCarthy said during her opening statements. Blasts in the area of Donetsk airport illuminated the sky on Tuesday as heavy fighting between Ukraine’s army and local militia continued throughout the day. The situation has significantly deteriorated in the last 24 hours, according to the OSCE mission.

WASHINGTON (AP) — An Ohio bartender with a history of psychiatric illness was indicted last week on a charge of threatening to murder House Speaker John Boehner, possibly by poisoning his drink, according to records made available Tuesday.

The terror attacks in the offices of the French satirical weekly newspaper Charlie Hebdo took place on January 7th; two days later Der Spiegel’s report is published. The timing is perfect. Israeli media is running with it. The news this week of the terrorist attacks in Paris that killed 12 people left me with a few different emotions and thoughts.
