KILLEEN, Texas (KXAN) – HAZMAT crews have been called to a Killeen home after the body of  a soldier who was deployed to West Africa was found Tuesday morning in Killeen.

According to KXXV-TV, the soldier’s body was found in the 3300 block of Cantabrian Drive and Fort Hood officials confirm the soldier just returned from West Africa.

Washington (AFP) – President Barack Obama said Tuesday the cyber attacks against Sony and the Pentagon’s Central Command highlight the need for toughened laws on cybersecurity.

Obama made the comment as the White House unveiled a proposal to revive cybersecurity legislation stalled over the past few years.

Muslim frustration over the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is one of the factors that led to the attacks on satirical French magazine Charlie Hebdo and a kosher supermarket in Paris last week, former US President Jimmy Carter told Jon Stewart on the Daily Showon Monday.

When Stewart asked Carter what he believed led to the massacre, which claimed the lives of 17 people, the latter replied: “Well, one of the origins for it is the Palestinian problem. And this aggravates people who are affiliated in any way with the Arab people who live in the West Bank and Gaza, what they are doing now [and] what’s being done to them. HONG KONG–China imported 30.37 million metric tons of crude oil in December, equivalent to 7.2 million barrels a day, preliminary data from the General Administration of Customs showed Tuesday.

Three Chinese Naval ships were given a rapturous welcome as they arrived in Portsmouth for a formal visit aimed at enhancing military understanding between the UK and China.

Chinese Ambassador Liu Xiaoming and hundreds of flag-waving UK-based Chinese residents welcomed the ships into the city’s Naval Base.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The transit network in the nation’s capital was hobbled Tuesday after an electrical malfunction filled a busy subway station with smoke a day earlier, killing one woman and sending dozens of people to hospitals.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Fans took to the streets after Ohio State’s football championship victory early Tuesday, yelling and screaming in delight, setting nearly 90 fires and in the case of a few, tearing down an Ohio Stadium goal post. A few injuries were reported.

Police made a handful of arrests after using tear gas and pepper spray to disperse crowds of Ohio State students and other fans following the Buckeyes’ win. NEW YORK, Jan. 13 (UPI) — Researchers at Mount Sinai Health System say a universal flu vaccine is currently in the works. While the vaccine has yet to prove it can protect humans, researchers say the science is sound and the vaccine may soon be a reality.

Harris, 50, is the two-time attorney general for the state of California and was the district attorney for San Francisco.

Hundreds of people have died in a major cold snap that has struck the Indian capital, New Delhi, as thousands of homeless people struggle to overcome the extreme cold without adequate shelter, Press TV reports.

The development came as northern India has been facing one of its coldest winters in decades, which has claimed lives of nearly 330 homeless folks in New Delhi alone.
