A federal appeals court on Tuesday banned the Justice Department from prosecuting medical marijuana cases if no state laws were broken.
A three-judge panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco ordered the federal agency to show that 10 pending cases in California and Washington state violated medical marijuana laws in those states before continuing with prosecutions. NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Vanderbilt University announced Monday that it will pay more than a million dollars to remove an inscription containing the word “Confederate” from one of its campus dorms.
The private university has referred to the Confederate Memorial Hall simply as “Memorial Hall” since 2002, but was blocked in court from changing the name chiseled on the building because it was constructed with the help of a $50,000 gift from the United Daughters of the Confederacy in 1933. NEW YORK (AP) — The reopening — and reinvention — of the World Trade Center mall Tuesday reflects how much lower Manhattan has changed since the 9/11 attacks.
Once a scene of massive destruction, the area is now a vibrant one of office towers and upscale hotels, with three times the number of residents as before the attacks, weekday employees in industries beyond Wall Street, and millions of tourists visiting every year. A fast-moving wildfire in Southern California’s Cajon Pass exploded to 6,500 acres in five hours, forcing thousands in the town of Wrightwood to flee.
With low humidity and temperatures in the triple digits, the so-called Bluecut fire, first reported around 10:30 a.m. PDT near Interstate 15, is burning uncontrollably, KTLA.com reported. Four and a half hours after it was sparked, the inferno had torched 5,500 acres of land. Yes, black lives certainly do matter, but the gang of idiots presently running rampant under that name don’t matter to anyone, and never will, because they’re little more than a gang of dupes being used by the communists to cause social unrest, and divide the population along racial lines.
Black lives matter, Asian lives matter, and although I haven’t seen it personally, I’m sure there are intelligent, and hard working Mexicans who contribute to our society, are in full support of American values, and the Bill of Rights. The Mexicans, Blacks, and Asians you see on TV, and in much of the “alternative media” only serve the purpose of causing division, and undermining popular unity, which unity can and does cross all racial and ethnic lines. Despite “heroic” promises to accept 160,000 Syrian refugees, European Union member states have only accepted 6,000 to date while the US alone has already admitted 8,000 of the 10,000 promised. So in light of recent terrorist attacks this begs the question is the U.S. being honorable or just dumb? An outbreak of yellow fever that’s been hitting the Democratic Republic of Congo and Angola hard, killing more than 400 people and sickening even more, is poised to spread beyond central Africa. It’s already the region’s largest outbreak in decades.
Yellow fever is transmitted by the same mosquito as the Zika virus. The symptoms can be anything from just a general fever to jaundice (that’s where the “yellow” comes in) and a severe liver disease with bleeding. MOSCOW (AP) — Russian warplanes took off on Tuesday from a base in Iran to target Islamic State fighters and other militants in Syria, Russia’s Defense Ministry said, widening Moscow’s bombing campaign in Syria in a major development in the country’s civil war.

A Chicago-based communist revolutionary group blamed by Milwaukee’s police chief for stoking a second day of violence said that some of its members did go there to “support a revolution” but didn’t set out to cause trouble.
Police chief Ed Flynn said members of a Chicago chapter of the Revolutionary Communist Party turned what had been a peaceful night into a tense one by leading marchers down several blocks at around 11:30 p.m. TV footage showed a small group of protesters walking or running through the streets, sometimes toppling orange construction barriers. A former Marine whose appearances in widely shared videos made him one of the most recognizable figures during the armed takeover of an Oregon wildlife refuge pleaded guilty Monday for his role in the weekslong standoff with authorities.
Jon Ritzheimer, 32, admitted that he conspired with Ammon Bundy and others to prevent U.S. Interior Department employees from doing their jobs at the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge, and they did so by threats of force or intimidation. Nearly a third of all the homes in Ascension Parish, Louisiana, have been flooded as floodwater overtopped a levee along the Amite River, the Baton Rouge Advocate says. Though skies have cleared as of Tuesday morning, the region is still dealing with the massive amount of water left behind, which is responsible for at least seven deaths and is pushing flood control systems to their limits.
“The next 24 to 48 hours is going to be a significant indication of just how much risk the parish remains in,” Rick Webre, director of the parish Office of Homeland Security, said in an emergency statement. A pair of leading House Republicans on Monday laid out detailed instructions for the Justice Department to file perjury charges against Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.
More than a month after first requesting the department open a criminal probe into Clinton for alleged misstatements she made under oath, the GOP heads of the House Judiciary and Oversight committees told a federal prosecutor specifically where they believed Clinton had lied to Congress about her email setup at the Department of State.
