An American woman in her 60s has been killed after being repeatedly stabbed in the back by a knifeman in a central London rampage as police rowed back on terrorism as a potential motive and said the attack was probably triggered by mental health issues.

Last week, an Irish court sentenced three prominent banksters for their roles in the 2008 financial crisis.  Judge Martin Nolan, who pronounced judgment, said that the bansksters had committed “a very serious crime.”  He continued, “The public is entitled to rely on the probity of blue chip firms. A South Carolina resident has contracted an infection from the brain-eating amoeba, naegleria fowleri, according to the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control.

The state epidemiologist Linda Bell said the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention confirmed through lab tests the individual was exposed to the infectious amoeba. In its push to convince Congress to take up a comprehensive immigration overhaul in 2017, the advocacy group founded by former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and NewsCorp chief executive Rupert Murdoch is betting on the old adage, “All politics is local.”

The Partnership for a New American Economy, which Bloomberg, Murdoch and others established in 2010, published 51 reports Wednesday — one for each state plus the District of Columbia — outlining the local economic effect of the immigrant community. Saving a bundle on car insurance wasn’t enough for one NYPD officer, who was busted by the feds for torching his Range Rover and two other cars to collect at least $34,000 in reimbursement checks from GEICO, federal authorities said Wednesday.

In a little-watched Sunday political infomercial announcing a rare openly-partisan line from a putative law enforcement agency, ATF Deputy Director Thomas Brandon told CBS News correspondent Richard Schlesinger that the agency demands more gun control laws, especially a confiscation-enabling gun registry.

Baltimore, MD – Police acknowledged on Tuesday that Facebook deactivated the Facebook and Instagram accounts of Korryn Gaines, at the request of law enforcement officials. The 23-year-old mother was killed by Baltimore County Police Monday after a standoff with police that lasted several hours. An aerial insecticide spraying campaign began at dawn this morning in Florida to kill mosquitoes that might be infected with the zika virus. The spray will cover a 10-mile area in Miami. A man suspected of killing one person and wounding four others when he fired shots from a handgun into a crowd on the streets of a nightclub area of Austin early Sunday was arrested without incident in Atlanta on Wednesday, the U.S. Marshals Service said.

Endicott McCray, 24, was arrested near a bus station after the service received a tip that he may be there.
