Politicians are literally walking billboards for giant corporations who dish out millions of dollars in campaign contributions. This year’s campaign saw massive amounts of attention paid to this fact, and the idea that U.S. elections are actually rigged. Even if you don’t believe they’re rigged, the superdelegate process alone completely undermines democracy. Elections in the U.S. seem to be a form of entertainment, a mere distraction, more so than a real process of democracy and election. Every time elections come around, we are witnessing the illusion of democracy, and it’s not a secret. Politics, elections, and government policy are not controlled by the politicians; they seem to be the ‘fall’ people. They too take orders, and have a ‘boss.’ Above the government sit the corporations, and above them the big banks. This is the current power structure of modern day global dominance. WENTWORTH, N.C. (WGHP) — Rockingham County District Attorney Craig Blitzer said at a news conference today that no charges will be filed against the deputies in the May 29 shooting death of Todd Burroughs.
Burroughs was driving his wife and two children home from a wedding when two deputies saw his pickup in the parking lot of a business along U.S. 220 Business, according to the State Bureau of Investigation. Burroughs pulled away as deputies approached shortly before 2 a.m. The deputies pursued Burroughs’ vehicle for several miles with their blue lights on. Officials said the vehicle pulled into a driveway off Garrett Road and the deputies confronted Burroughs when he got out of his vehicle. LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – California Governor Jerry Brown signed into law on Friday a bill to require anyone planning to build a homemade firearm to first obtain a serial number for the weapon and submit to a background check, his office said in a statement.

Air conditioners and refrigerators pose as big a threat to “life on the planet” as the threat of terrorism, Secretary of State John Kerry said Friday.
Kerry was in Vienna negotiating a global climate deal to phase out chemicals used as refrigerants in basic household and commercial appliances such as air conditioning and refrigerators, called hydrofluorocarbons, or HFCs. Hillary Clinton named U.S. Senator Tim Kaine as her running mate on Friday, opting for an experienced governing partner who will help her present the Democratic ticket as a steady alternative to the unpredictable campaign of Republican presidential rival Donald Trump.
The selection of Kaine, a self-described “boring” Virginian with a reputation for low-key competence, could appeal to independents and moderates, but it quickly angered liberal groups that object to his advocacy for an Asian free-trade pact. DENVER (Reuters) – Residents of a small farming community in eastern Colorado have been warned to avoid drinking the town’s water after THC, the psychoactive agent in marijuana, was found in one of its feeder wells, authorities said on Thursday.
A public works employee in Hugo, a town of about 800 people 90 miles southeast of Denver, detected the chemical and health officials believe it is “marijuana THC-related,” the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook posting. The FBI is offering a $10,000 reward to help retrieve an assault-style weapon, a handgun and other equipment that was stolen July 10 from an agency vehicle that was parked along the H Street corridor in Northeast Washington.
Authorities said that the vehicle — a Ford Expedition — was locked and that someone smashed a rear window and took a secured gun lock box. GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo., July 22 (UPI) — The owner of a Colorado bed and breakfast lassoed and wrestled with a 2-year-old black bear to free the animal’s head from a plastic jug of Cheese Balls.
Jim Hawkins, owner of Four Mile Creek Bed and Breakfast outside of Glenwood Springs, said the bear had been spotted numerous times during the past week with the clear plastic Cheese Balls container on its head, but it always wandered away before authorities arrived. Police in Munich reportedly said they expect “multiple dead” after a shooting spree inside a city shopping center, prompting a massive police response and an intense manhunt for possible suspects.
