Has the light come on yet?

Why do you think the US Congress passed the Sexual Assault Taxpayer Bailout Act by unanimous vote in 1995 — and Bill Clinton signed it?  Why has it not been repealed — and in fact, even today there is no bill on the floor of either House or Senate to repeal it, nor has Trump called for it to be repealed and stated he will refuse to sign any other bill (which is within his power) until it is?   Continue reading “Got It Figured Out Yet?”

Communism failed in the 20th century, but is allowing the super-rich to dictate to the rest of humanity the only alternative system? Perhaps we need to design a socialist system, which also recognizes achievement.

Bill Gates, the second-richest person on Earth, has repeatedly criticized capitalism. Back in 2015 he explained his reasoning was based on a simple ecological calculation: the use of fossil fuels has to be radically reduced if we are to avoid a global catastrophe, and the private sector is too selfish to produce clean and economical alternatives to fossil fuels, which means humanity has to act outside market forces. Gates himself plans to spend $2 billion of his own money on green energy, even though there’s no fortune to be made from it, and he called on fellow billionaires to help make the US fossil-free by 2050 with similar philanthropy.   Continue reading “Is it true that only progressive billionaires can save humanity?”

Following Donald Trump’s controversial Jerusalem move, Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu has told EU leaders there is no other place for the capital – and that the Bible proves it. As protests continue, he also urged the Palestinians to embrace “reality.”

During his visit to Brussels on Monday, Netanyahu praised US President Donald Trump’s recent decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and relocate its embassy, saying that it was based on the recognition of reality. The controversial decision triggered protests in the Middle East and across the globe, and was met with international condemnation. Nonetheless the Israeli Prime Minister said that the decision promotes peace, and called on EU states and the Palestinians to follow suit.   Continue reading “‘Where else?’ Netanyahu cites Bible to justify Trump’s Jerusalem move, urges EU to follow suit”

CHICAGO (AP) — The first-ever bitcoin future jumped after it began trading Sunday as the increasingly popular virtual currency made its debut on a major U.S. exchange. The futures contract that expires in January surged more than $3,000 to $18,580 eight hours after trading launched on the Chicago Board Options Exchange. The contract opened at $15,000, according to data from the CBOE.

The CBOE futures don’t involve actual bitcoin. They’re securities that will track the price of bitcoin on Gemini, one of the larger bitcoin exchanges. The start of trading at 5 p.m. CST overwhelmed the CBOE website. “Due to heavy traffic on our website, visitors to www.cboe.com may find that it is performing slower than usual and may at times be temporarily unavailable,” the exchange said in a statement. But it said the trading in the futures had not been disrupted.   Continue reading “Bitcoin futures rise as virtual currency hits major exchange”

REHOBOTH BEACH, Del.- An archeological study years in the making has revealed a wealth of new information about some of Delaware’s earliest colonial settlers and shed new light on what life would have been like in the region three centuries ago.

The discovery of numerous artifacts as well as 11 well-preserved burial sites dating to the late 1600s fills in gaps in Delaware’s early history, telling the story of the colonists’ physical health, diet, family life, and how they made their living. Three of the burials, one a young child, were determined to be of African descent, constituting the earliest known discovery of remains of enslaved people in Delaware.   Continue reading “Archeological Discovery Writes New Chapter in Delaware’s Early Colonial History”

President Trump has been willing to accept almost anything to close the deal on his giant tax cut bill before Christmas, including staying mum about a measure that would allow illegal immigrants to pocket the more generous child tax credit included in the package.

Illegal immigrants have been collecting the payoff from the “refundable” tax credit for years because of an IRS interpretation of how the rule was drafted. The Republican-controlled Congress this fall had a chance to correct that in the tax code overhaul that in the Senate version doubled the child tax credit to $2,000 and expanded eligibility.  Continue reading “Trump may get tax cut bill with more generous credits for illegal immigrants”

JERUSALEM (Reuters) – A Palestinian stabbed an Israeli security guard at Jerusalem’s main bus station on Sunday, police said, and violence flared near the U.S. Embassy in Beirut over U.S. President Donald Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.

Four days of street protests in the Palestinian territories over Trump’s announcement on Wednesday have largely died down, but his overturning of long-standing U.S. policy on Jerusalem — a city holy to Jews, Muslims and Christians — drew more Arab warnings of potential damage to prospects for Middle East peace.   Continue reading “Palestinian stabs Israeli in Jerusalem; anti-Trump protest flares in Beirut”

Whether it be hurricanes, tornadoes, flooding or wildfires, America has been inundated with devastating manmade and so-called natural disasters. They were manmade by steering hurricanes onto American coastal regions, weather modifications, and undoubtedly enemies of American Nationals lighting off wildfires. Sound a little over the top? Yeah, the truth hurts doesn’t it? Weather modification playing a huge part? You betcha.

Every one of these disasters cost billions of dollars, Hurricane Harvey alone is estimated at $190 billion, that is a low estimate in my opinion. The wildfires in California are going to be incalculable; estimates so far are again low. Hurricane Irma was a Cat 5, it stayed a Cat 5 longer than any other hurricane except hurricane Ivan in 2004. Irma stayed at 184 MPH for 34 hours. It took out outer Islands before heading into the mainland. There have been over 1300 tornadoes hit inside American soil since October 8th.   Continue reading “American Disasters Have Eclipsed Anything We Have Seen Previously – 15 So Far This Year”

The spirit of this country is totally adverse to a large military force,” said Thomas Jefferson in an 1807 letter to Chandler Price. And what would the nation’s third president and principal author of the Declaration of Independence say of today’s American “global force” deployed across the earth?

America’s “global military presence” is not hyperbole, but a literal fact, as a new Department of Defense study has found that US military personnel are stationed in literally every nation on the earth. The report bluntly confirms that, “The United States has military personnel in nearly every country in the world, ranging from two liaison officers in Fiji to tens of thousands from all of the service branches in Japan and Germany, according to the report.”   Continue reading “Dude Where’s My Troops?
