Former Rep. Beto O’Rourke, D-Texas, questioned the relevancy of the U.S. Constitution and the American experiment which began more than two centuries ago during a recent interview.
During an interview with the Washington Post, the potential 2020 contender was pressed on whether he believed the U.S. could reinvent how it approached divisive issues that have contributed to current political paralysis or whether he thought it was impossible for the country to introduce any reforms. Continue reading “Beto O’Rourke asks: Are the ‘principles’ of the US Constitution still relevant?”

Chicago, IL — A disturbing video has been released as part of a lawsuit against the LaSalle County Sheriff’s office showing deputies throw an apparently innocent woman to the ground before stripping off all of her clothes. Zandrea Askew, a former sergeant in the Marine Corps says she was “humiliated, degraded and dehumanized” and the video backs her up.
The lawsuit was filed this week in federal court and it alleges false arrest, abuse, and horrifying treatment by deputies. According to the lawsuit, Askew was sitting in her parked car when two LaSalle County sheriff’s deputies stopped and questioned her. During the stop, deputies demanded that Askew undergo field sobriety tests, despite not committing any traffic violations or being involved in an accident. As the government shutdown enters week five, debris, trash, and snow are piling up at national parks across the country as the bureaucrats who get paid to maintain them stay home. Luckily, however, volunteers from all walks of life have stepped up to fill their shoes and they’ve been doing a fantastic job—that is, when the government isn’t kicking them out.
A group of libertarians in Tennessee has been volunteering at national parks to do the bureaucrats’ jobs and they were doing it successfully, until this week. Continue reading “Volunteers Kicked Out of Nat’l Park for Cleaning It During Shutdown—Without a Permit”

A suicide bombing in Manbij, Syria has reportedly killed 19 people including four Americans, two of whom were US soldiers and two of whom worked with the US military. ISIS, which has an extensive history of falsely claiming responsibility for attacks it had nothing to do with, has claimed responsibility for the attack. Despite the fact that ISIS would claim responsibility for a housewife stepping on a Lego block, and despite the complete absence of evidence that it had anything to do with the deadly explosion, all the usual cheerleaders of endless war are pointing to the Manbij suicide bombing and shrieking “See?? Trump said ISIS is defeated and it’s not!” Continue reading “War Whores Scramble To Say Syria Attack Means Troops Must Remain”

The Senate Judiciary Committee hearings for Attorney General nominee William Barr have focused heavily on Barr’s views on Special Counsel Robert Mueller. But nobody is asking about Barr’s legal crusade for blanket immunity for federal agents who killed American citizens.
Barr received a routine questionnaire from the Judiciary Committee asking him to disclose his past work including pro bono activities “serving the disadvantaged.” The “disadvantaged” that Barr spent the most time helping was an FBI agent who slayed an Idaho mother holding her baby in 1992. Barr spent two weeks organizing former Attorneys General and others to support “an FBI sniper in defending against criminal charges in connection with the Ruby Ridge incident.” Barr also “assisted in framing legal arguments advanced… in the district court and the subsequent appeal to the Ninth Circuit,” he told the committee. Social media users and Press TV viewers have voiced their frustration with the imprisonment and ill-treatment of an anchor for Iran’s English-language Press TV by federal agents in the United States, saying the arrest mocks the US claims of democracy and respect for human rights.
