Gun companies are gathering for their annual conference and trade show this week in Las Vegas at a pivotal moment for the industry amid slumping sales, a public increasingly agitating for restrictions on access to firearms and escalating tensions over gun control efforts.

The event, held by the National Shooting Sports Foundation, the gun industry’s lobbying group, will take place in Las Vegas — about 3 miles from the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history. An estimated 60,000 people are expected to attend, navigating a vast expanse of aisles filled with not just firearms but all sorts of accessories and industry-related apparel.  Continue reading “Gun control tensions and slumping sales cast shadow over gun industry show in Las Vegas”

RICHMOND, Va. — Police are scouring the internet for clues about plans for mayhem, workers are putting up chain link holding pens around Virginia’s picturesque Capitol Square, and one lawmaker even plans to hide in a safe house in advance of what’s expected to be an unprecedented show of force by gun-rights activists.

What is provoking their anger in this once reliably conservative state is the new Democratic majority leadership and its plans to enact a slew of gun restrictions. This clash of old and new has made Virginia – determined to prevent a replay of the Charlottesville violence in 2017 – ground zero in the nation’s raging debate over gun control. The Great Recession

I’m not going to predict when and how the US stock market will crash as I did by laying out the stages of its fall for 2018. That was easy, but the times are different now.

Back then, the Fed had laid out a precise schedule for its tightening, and it was apparent to me where the big increases in Fed tightening would be sufficient to bring down the market that the Fed had artificially rigged.  Continue reading “Stock Market More Overpriced and Perilous Than Anytime in History”

Until recently, Hoan Ton-That’s greatest hits included an obscure iPhone game and an app that let people put Donald Trump’s distinctive yellow hair on their own photos.

Then Mr. Ton-That — an Australian techie and onetime model — did something momentous: He invented a tool that could end your ability to walk down the street anonymously, and provided it to hundreds of law enforcement agencies, ranging from local cops in Florida to the F.B.I. and the Department of Homeland Security.

Apparently, the defense of the Second Amendment in America can create some unusual alliances. The coming large-scale pro-gun rally scheduled for Monday in Richmond, Virginia, will include the usual pro-gun groups such as the National Rifle Association, Gun Owners of America, and the Second Amendment Foundation. But reportedly alongside those groups will be a local Virginia chapter of the domestic terrorist group Antifa.  Continue reading “Antifa Group to March in Support of Gun Rights at Virginia Event”
