MOSCOW (Sputnik) – A group of Russian military observers will conduct observation flights over US and Swedish territory by 29 June, the official newspaper of the Russian Armed Forces, Krasnaya Zvezda (Red Star), reported on Monday.

It took last-minute changes and a lot of arm twisting by top Democratic leaders, but the House passed with relative ease Tuesday a $4.5 billion emergency border aid package to care for thousands of migrant families and unaccompanied children detained after crossing the U.S.-Mexico border.

The bill passed along party lines after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi quelled a mini-revolt by progressives and Hispanic lawmakers who sought significant changes to the legislation. New reports from across the country show that police departments are unable to keep their numbers up as fewer people are applying to be cops. There is a police recruitment crisis in America but this should not surprise anyone and can serve as a major opportunity, if we seize it.

According to Bethesda Magazine, numbers in Montgomery county, Maryland show police recruitment has dropped by nearly half in just the last few years. A new federal study of oil that’s been seeping into the Gulf of Mexico from a platform toppled by Hurricane Ivan more than 14 years ago confirms that the spill is bigger than what the energy company who owns the platform has claimed.

The platform, 12 miles off the coast of Louisiana, fell over after an underwater mudslide triggered by the hurricane on Sept. 15, 2004.
