As one of his first acts in office, Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador and his counterparts from three Central American countries have signed an agreement to formulate a plan which will stop the flow of migrants seeking asylum in the United States.

The plan will include a fund to generate jobs in the region, while attacking the “structural causes of migration from El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras,” reports APciting a Saturday statement from Mexico’s Foreign Ministry.     Continue reading “Mexico’s New President Signs Deal To Halt Flow Of Migrants”

The Talmud has consistently defied attempts to categorize it. The legalistic nature of many of its discussions, as well as its importance for the later development of Jewish law, have led many to describe the Talmud as a code of law. However, this narrow definition fails to account for the stories, theological discussions, and anecdotes that make up much of the text. Furthermore, we cannot ignore the structural differences between the Talmud and other Jewish and non-Jewish law codes.   Continue reading “Talmud is Not a Code of Law”

Scientists from the UCLA Samueli School of Engineering have just discovered a way to build thinner but more efficient solar panels, able to harness more power from the sun than current and conventional solar cells.

The new technology is a perovskite-CIGS tandem solar cell, which means it is composed of two layers. On top is a thin layer of perovskite, an inexpensive material made from iodine and lead. This material has been shown in previous studies and trials to be very efficient at capturing energy from the sun. The perovskite was sprayed into a solar cell made from a compound of CIGS or copper, indium, gallium, and selenide.   Continue reading “New highly efficient thin-film solar cell generates more energy than typical solar panels”

The Pentagon has its Technocrat scientist operation with DARPA, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency. The intelligence community has its own version in IARPA, the Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity.

Imagine having a beefy budget, no project restraints, and you can try to invent anything your mind can brainstorm into existence. The only requirement is that it has to somehow support the various Intel agencies that sit underneath the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) and reports directly to the Director of National Intelligence.   Continue reading “Meet IARPA: Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity”

The vote followed US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley’s announcement that Washington plans to reject a UN General Assembly resolution on the Golan Heights region given the document’s “anti-Israel bias”.

A resolution urging Israel to withdraw from the entirety of the Golan Heights has been adopted by the majority of the countries represented in the UN General Assembly (UNGA). Continue reading “UN General Assembly Urges Israel to Completely Withdraw From Golan Heights”

Around the world, governments attempt to limit subjects’ legal access to weapons—ostensibly to keep the peace, but in reality often done to minimize challenges to government power. And, around the world, those subjects defy such restrictions, often going so far as to manufacture weapons outside official channels. In fact, DIY firearms ranging in sophistication from muskets to grenade launchers exist in the millions across the planet, according to a new report that should (but won’t) finally demonstrate to government officials the futility of efforts to disarm people who insist on being free.  Continue reading “When Governments Restrict Guns, People Make Their Own By the Millions”

We’ve discussed this on and off for several years now. Civil asset forfeiture is a legal process that allows the government to seize assets and cash from citizens without any due process or judicial oversight.

You don’t even have to be charged with a crime. You are assumed guilty unless you can somehow prove your innocence.   Continue reading “Government now wants to seize your car for going 5 MPH over the limit”

A new video service called Cameo was launched in April 2018 with the intent of allowing celebrities to record short, personalized videos for fans. The service includes a stable of athletes with a wide range of varying relevance, all of whom you can hear say your name in exchange for a quick payment.

Those videos could be something like a personal greeting, a birthday shout-out or a holiday celebration. Apparently, they could also be a assortment of coded, anti-semitic language meant to validate white supremacists.   Continue reading “Brett Favre duped by white supremacists into making anti-semitic conspiracy video”
