CNN reporter Omar Jimenez and his crew were arrested while broadcasting live on air Friday morning from the scene of the overnight protests in Minneapolis.

Jimenez was reporting on the network’s “New Day” a little after 6 a.m. ET when he was approached by state troopers in riot gear. Jimenez identified himself as a reporter with CNN and repeatedly offered to move locations at the officers’ request, but they interrupted him to inform him he was being arrested. Protests in Minneapolis over the death of George Floyd took a dramatic turn for the worse Wednesday night as city police responded to stores in the city being looted and burned as well as a deadly shooting at a protest location.

State Supreme Court Presiding Justice Thomas A. Balmer granted the state’s emergency motion to hold the lower court’s injunction designating the state coronavirus restrictions “null and void,” Oregon Live reported.
