HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) –A group of narcotics officers came under fire while trying to serve a search warrant in southeast Houston late Monday afternoon.

During a Monday White House press briefing national security adviser John Bolton was photographed carrying a notepad — presumably as he was fresh out of a national security meeting — and one of the things which appears to be handwritten on the pad is “5,000 troops to Colombia”.
The contents of the notepad were spotted almost immediately by multiple journalists online after an NBC news release featuring the AP photo was published. HOUSTON (CBSDFW.COM) – Houston Police confirm to CBS 11 a total of five Houston Police officers were shot Monday afternoon reportedly while serving a narcotics warrant.

A gun-wielding good Samaritan brought a harrowing road rage incident to a safe end, reportedly stopping a driver who’d been racing through Massachusetts — with a 65-year-old man clinging to the hood of his SUV.

A missing 3-year-old boy who was found alive after enduring two days of heavy rain and freezing temperatures says it was a bear who kept him safe and warm.

A St. Louis police officer was charged with manslaughter Friday for allegedly shooting a colleague as the two played Russian Roulette, authorities said.
Officer Nathaniel Hendren, 29, shot Officer Katlyn Alix, 24, in his apartment in the city’s Carondelet neighborhood early Thursday in the presence of a third officer, police said.

Police are searching for an “armed and dangerous” 21-year-old man from Louisiana who they believe fatally shot his girlfriend, her father and her brother before driving 25 miles in a stolen pickup truck and killing both his parents in their trailer home. Authorities said Saturday evening he may be out of state now.
Dakota Theriot is wanted on multiple counts of first-degree murder, home invasion and weapons charges after the killing spree that began in Livingston Parish — just east of the state capital, Baton Rouge — and ended in Ascension Parish. Authorities said that deputies arrived at his parents’ home in time to interview his dying father, who identified his son as the shooter. Two people, including an 82-year-old man, were shot dead by a gunman at a bar and a home near Penn State University Thursday night, police said.

(Bloomberg) — The Trump administration is considering taking steps to limit the ability of states to block interstate gas pipelines and other energy projects, according to three people familiar with the deliberations.
The effort, possibly through an executive order, is aimed chiefly at states in the Northeast U.S., where opposition to pipeline projects has helped prevent abundant shale gas in Pennsylvania and Ohio from reaching consumers in New York and other cities. MEXICO CITY (Reuters) – Two U.S.-Mexico meetings have been held to work out details of a new plan to return across the shared border migrants seeking U.S. asylum, but Mexico will not accept anybody facing a credible threat back home, a Mexico Foreign Ministry spokesman said.
In a major policy change, U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration said on Dec. 20 it would send non-Mexican migrants who cross the U.S. southern border back to wait in Mexico while their U.S. asylum requests are processed. A proposal to give green cards — and thus eventual United States citizenship — to at least 700,000 illegal aliens could trigger a “chain migration” of more than four million foreign nationals arriving in the country.
As Breitbart News reported, White House adviser Jared Kushner and a handful of Republican Senators have reportedly floated the idea to secure a fifth of border wall funding by giving green cards to the roughly 700,000 illegal aliens enrolled in President Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. The US Supreme Court said it will hear its biggest gun rights case in nearly decade — one that seeks to undercut New York City rules sharply limiting gun owners from carrying firearms outside of their homes.

The back and forth between House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and President Donald Trump over when and where the State of the Union will be delivered — if at all — came to a conclusion, if temporary, late Wednesday night. Trump will not give a speech until after the partial government shutdown is over.
The president tweeted the news in a two-part missive just before midnight, saying, “As the Shutdown was going on, Nancy Pelosi asked me to give the State of the Union Address. I agreed. She then changed her mind because of the Shutdown, suggesting a later date. Democrats in Congress are making election reform their top legislative priority, and we’ve criticized it as a majority protection act. To understand why, consider that Democrats are trying to do for the country what they’ve done with election laws in California.
The Golden State is where Republican candidates went to bed on election night in November with leads in most of their competitive House races, only to lose in the ensuing weeks of vote counting. In Orange County, Young Kim was poised to become the first Korean-American woman in Congress, with a sizable lead on Election Day over her Democratic opponent. She lost by three percentage points. Republican Rep. Mimi Walters’s 6,074-vote lead on Nov. 6 turned into an 11,866-vote loss to Democrat Katie Porter. The Supreme Court on Tuesday took no action on whether it will hear disputes over the Trump administration’s decision to wind down the Obama-era Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.
No action from the court may mean protections for some 700,000 young people brought to the country illegally as children may remain in place for several more months. Many viewed this as the last opportunity for the court to review the case this term given the court’s already full calendar. The justices typically don’t agree to hear cases over the summer.
