Maine’s Marine Patrol is allowed to put secret surveillance devices inside boats.
According to an article in the Portland Press Herald, the Maine Department of Marine Resources (DMR) wants the Marine Patrol to secretly install electronic surveillance devices on the boats of fishermen suspected of violating state fishing regulations.

Search efforts today resumed by water, air and shoreline for a plane that disappeared four days ago near Cleveland carrying three adults, including a CEO, and three children, officials said.

I begin my 2017 stock market predictions with a recap of last year’s predictions. In an article back in 2015 titled “The Epocalypse: What Will D-Day Look Like?” I predicted the Fed would raise rates on December 16th, 2015, and the US stock market would crash immediately. Counterintuitively, I said it would crash by shooting upward for a few days; then it would round off, and then, in a short time, it would plunge off a cliff. Swiss police say they have located the gunman who shot two policemen during a house search in Rehetobel in the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Members of the 115th Congress will be sworn in at noon Tuesday, setting off an aggressive campaign by Republicans who control the House and Senate to dismantle eight years of President Barack Obama’s Democratic policies.
The first and biggest target is Obama’s health care law, which Republicans have long sought to gut and blamed as a primary cause for a lackluster economic recovery. But decades-old programs that millions of Americans rely on every day, such as Social Security and Medicare, also will be in the crosshairs as congressional Republicans seek to shrink both the size of the federal budget and the bureaucracy in Washington. At least five people have been killed as severe storms moved across the Southeast, bringing heavy rain and strong winds. The line of severe thunderstorms spawned several possible tornadoes, and the threat continued into Tuesday moring for southern Alabama, southwest Georgia and the Florida Panhandle.
Four people were killed Monday evening when a tree fell on their mobile home in Rehobeth, Alabama, said Kris Ware, a spokeswoman for the Dothan Houston County Emergency Management Agency. Alabama Gov. SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — South Korean President Park Geun-hye refused to testify Tuesday in the impeachment trial that will decide her future, prompting the prosecutors to question why she has publicly denied the charges of corruption but will not do so before the court.
After Park’s refusal, the Constitutional Court delayed the start of oral arguments and asked her to testify on Thursday, when some of her current and former aides are also scheduled to testify. Human Rights Watch has accused some senior Israeli officials of openly supporting the excessive use of lethal force against Palestinians, and has condemned Israel’s “shoot-to-kill” policy.
