The United Nation’s Refugee Agency (UNHRC) has 45 people on the ground in Mexico helping the more than 7,000 people who are marching from Central America to the United States border with Mexico.
The Mexico News Daily reported on Tuesday:
UNHCR spokesperson Adrian Edwards told a press conference in Geneva, Switzerland today that “in any situation like this it is essential that people have the chance to request asylum and have their international protection needs properly assessed, before any decision on return/deportation is made.”

Cleveland, OH — Cuyahoga County taxpayers will shell out $180,000 this week to settle a lawsuit brought by former children housed in the juvenile detention center—who were forced to fight each other for the officers’ entertainment in some sort of child fight club.
According to the lawsuit and the video, the officers would pit two children against each other in what they referred to as “Fight Nights.” This was a long standing tradition inside the juvenile detention center, according to the suit. The migrant caravan has shrunk after 500 people voluntarily accepted bus trips back to their home countries.

A series of suspected “pipe bombs” sent to prominent US Democrats and the news outlet CNN appears to be desperate political stunt staged by Democrats to gain sympathy before the midterm elections, American academic and political commentator James Henry Fetzer says.
Fetzer made the remarks in an email interview with Press TV on Thursday when asked whether the killing of Saudi dissident journalist Jamal Khashoggi and Republican President Donald Trump’s divisive rhetoric have any links with the suspected bombs allegedly sent to Democrats. A jury will decide whether a Fresno police officer used excessive force when he shot and killed a 45-year-old father of five, a federal judge ruled Wednesday.
Officer Trevor Shipman shot Casimero Casillas in September 2015 after he fled from a traffic stop. Police chased Casillas after attempting to pull him over because a passenger in his car wasn’t wearing a seatbelt. Thousands of migrants from Central America are crossing Mexico toward the United States in a caravan have resumed their long journey, walking about 12 hours to their next destination.

Israeli warplanes have carried out new airstrikes against the besieged Gaza Strip, bombarding the west and south of the enclave.
Israeli media said the fighter jets hit eight targets belonging to the Hamas resistance movement near the towns of Khan Younis and Rafah, besides other targets, early on Thursday morning. Americans over 50 are worse than younger people at telling facts from opinions, according to a new study by Pew Research Center.
Given 10 statements, five each of fact and opinion, younger Americans correctly identified both the facts and the opinions at higher rates than older Americans did. Forty-four percent of younger people identified all five opinions as opinions, while only 26 percent of older people did. And 18-to-29-year-olds performed more than twice as well as the 65+ set. President Trump signed a sweeping bipartisan bill into law on Wednesday aimed at making medical treatment for opioid addiction more widely available while also cracking down on illicit drugs being sent through the mail.
