Hazel Township, PA — A disturbing video was shared with the Free Thought Project earlier this year showing a school cop punch and pull the hair of a teen girl as guards held her arms behind her back. The community and parents of children at Hazleton Area High School have been furious since the video went viral and they’ve been demanding justice—although they have yet to see any.

The video was uploaded to Facebook by a student at Hazelton Area High School in February. Immigration officials on Wednesday arrested some 280 employees of a North Texas tech company suspected of knowingly hiring illegal immigrants, the largest such single-company sweep in 11 years.

More than 200 law enforcement personnel took part in the operation at CVE Technology Group in Allen, north of Dallas. The George Washington University student body voted Thursday to “remove and replace” its mascot, the George the Colonial.

According to the GWU Joint Elections Commission, 54 percent of students who voted in this spring’s Student Association elections supported the removal of the Colonial as the school’s mascot. It was not immediately clear what students plan to replace the Colonial mascot with or even if school administrators will act on the results of the referendum.
