WASHINGTON: Seeking to stop Russian-made anti-tank missiles, the US Army will buy Israel’s Iron Fist Active Protection System for a brigade of its M2 Bradley armored vehicles, Breaking Defense has learned.
The decision comes after weeks of confusing statements by Army officials and months of delays fitting the high-tech active protection on a Cold War-vintage vehicle — one already upgraded to the limits of available space, weight, and electrical power. Full execution will also have to await the 2020 budget or at least a congressionally-approved reprogramming: The Army currently has only $80 million of the approximately $200 million required to buy and install Iron Fist on an armored brigade’s 138 Bradleys, plus spares. I have a lot of friends in law enforcement, and one thing they all tell me is that very few people know their rights when it comes to saying “No” to cops.
By feigning casual conversation, police are able to violate your rights and turn you into a felon, often for “crimes” you never committed. This is precisely what the FBI did to Michael Flynn when they sent a couple of FBI agents to his office, pretending to be engaging in a friendly conversation and White House tour. In reality, the FBI agents were interrogating Flynn, writing up a 302 document and using his words to prosecute him for “lying” to the government. (Yes, that’s exactly what they did. ALBANY, N.Y. — Two of the nation’s largest retailers and a third company are named in a New York lawsuit claiming the companies imported and sold children’s toys with lead levels up to 10 times higher than federal limits.
New York Attorney General Barbara Underwood said in the lawsuit filed in an Albany court Thursday that Walmart, Target and Randolph, New Jersey-based LaRose Industries, importer of the “Cra-Z-Jewelz” jewelry-making kits, “committed thousands of violations” of state laws regulating the safety of children’s toys sold in New York. DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. – A DeKalb County police officer who had been with the department for less than two years was killed in the line of duty Thursday night following what turned into a violent traffic stop.

Washington: Oscar-nominated actress Sondra Locke has died of cancer at the age of 74, US news outlets reported Thursday night.

For the first time since 1973, the United States now leads the world in terms of oil production. And according to reports, we have the ground underneath Western Texas and Eastern New Mexico to thank.
A new assessment by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) estimates that untapped regions of what’s known as the Delaware Basin, a component of the greater Permian Basin, contain 46.3 billion barrels of oil, 281 trillion cubic feet of natural gas, and 20 billion barrels of natural gas liquids – an amount two times larger than what was estimated in a 2016 assessment of just the Wolfcamp shale play in Permian’s Midland Basin. French police on Thursday shot dead Cherif Chekatt, the suspect in this week’s Strasbourg shooting, which killed three people and wounded 13 near the city center’s popular Christmas market.

President Trump is considering Jared Kushner to replace outgoing chief of staff John Kelly, according to the Huffington Post.
Kushner – already an official Whiter House adviser – is reportedly one of five finalists Trump told reporters he had narrowed the pool down to on Thursday, while Kushner – Trump’s son-in-law, has indicated he is interested in the job according to a “top Republican close to the White House” in a statement to the Post. The Seattle, Washington company has come under scrutiny since it announced intentions to build a new home in the Long Island City neighborhood, with New York State and the city offering $2.8billion in tax breaks for the company that surpassed a $1trillion valuation in September.
