Toledo, Ohio – This Tuesday, Toledo City Councilman Rob Ludeman suggested that criminals be implanted with microchips so they can be tracked by police and the courts. Ludeman also made comments essentially describing people charged with crimes as animals.

King County, Washington, is considering the institution of a requirement that gun stores and gun ranges post signs on their premises warning of the health risks associated with firearm ownership and/or usage.

A Medicine Hat, Alta., man is facing charges of inciting hatred in public after complaints from a local business about someone displaying money stamped with with an anti-Semitic message.

Police in Cedar Falls say they’ve received three different calls to police in the span of five days.

Baltimore City Council members concerned about lobbying efforts to privatize the city’s water supply unanimously approved legislation Monday that, if approved by voters, would make Baltimore the first major city to ban the sale or lease of the water system.

Freedom of the press may be guaranteed in the Constitution. But a plurality of Republicans want to give President Trump the authority to close down certain news outlets, according to a new public opinion survey conducted by Ipsos and provided exclusively to The Daily Beast.
The findings present a sobering picture for the fourth estate, with respondents showing diminished trust in the media and increased support for punitive measures against its members. They also illustrate the extent to which Trump’s anti-press drumbeat has shaped public opinion about the role the media plays in covering his administration. Typically, when Americans hear someone say that the education system in the United States “runs on lies,” they would expect the statement to come from a disgruntled parent or student—but now it is coming from the former Secretary of Education, as he admits that the U.S. lies to families on a daily basis by promising them a quality education through public schools.
Arne Duncan, who served as education secretary for the Obama Administration, now appears to be calling out all sides of the spectrum for failing to prioritize the next generation. In an interview with CBS’ Face The Nation, Duncan argued that politicians are never held accountable for failing students and teachers. A Texas police officer who vanished from his home last week was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, officials said.
Baytown police officer John Stewart Beasley, 46, was found dead Tuesday in a field three miles from his Cove residence, Chambers County Sheriff Brian Hawthorne said.
