Comcast Xfininty’s login page had an easily found bug that allowed anyone to gain access to the Social Security Numbers and partial home addresses of over 26.5 million customers.

Comcast spokesapologist David McGuire says the company patched the bug quickly after being notified of its existence by security researcher Ryan Stevenson, and added that the company “take[s] our customers’ security very seriously,” adding that the company didn’t think anyone had exploited the bug.   Continue reading “Comcast breach exposes 26.5m customers’ Social Security Numbers and partial addresses”

The Economic Collapse – by Michael Snyder

America, you officially have a debt problem, and I am not just talking about the national debt.  Consumer bankruptcies are surging, corporate debt has doubled since the last financial crisis, state and local government debt loads have never been higher, and the federal government has been adding more than a trillion dollars a year to the federal debt ever since Barack Obama entered the White House.  We have been on the greatest debt binge in human history, and it has enabled us to enjoy our ridiculously high standard of living for far longer than we deserved.  Many of us have been sounding the alarm about our debt problem for a very long time, but now even the mainstream news is freaking out about it.  I have a feeling that they just want something else to hammer President Trump over the head with, but they are actually speaking the truth when they say that we are facing an unprecedented debt crisis.   Continue reading “Bankrupt America: Bankruptcy Soars As The Country Grapples With An Unprecedented Debt Problem”

A grand jury will indict a ham sandwich.

The corollary, of course, is “if that’s what the prosecutor wants.” And prosecutors rarely want their ham sandwiches indicted.

An unarmed man shot in the stomach by Officer Sarah Stumler of the Louisville Metro Police recently discovered the corollaries of this truism still hold, even if the city is giving the victim $1.8 million in taxpayer cash to settle his lawsuit.  Continue reading “Cops Go To Wrong House, Kill Innocent Man, Receive A Free Pass From Local Grand Jury”

WOOSTER, OHIO — The family of a 21-year-old Orrville man murdered in 2016 is suing outdoors retailer Cabela’s for negligence and wrongful death, arguing that the store should not have sold the weapon used to kill him to a man with a violent criminal history.

The estate of Bryan Galliher — through Columbus-based law firm Cooper & Elliott and the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence — filed the lawsuit Tuesday morning in the Wayne County Court of Common Pleas.   Continue reading “Family of slain Ohio man sues Cabela’s for selling gun to killer”

SAN FRANCISCO – On Sept. 8, an ungainly, 2,000-foot-long contraption will steam under the Golden Gate Bridge in what’s either a brilliant quest or a fool’s errand.

Dubbed the Ocean Cleanup Project, this giant sea sieve consists of pipes that float at the surface of the water with netting below, corralling trash in the center of a U-shaped design.   Continue reading “A giant floating trash collector will try to scoop up the Great Pacific Garbage Patch”

A new trend on Instagram has thousands of teens using thread pages to share advice. But experts warn that the tips given on these pages could do more harm than good.

Over the past year, Instagram has been taken over by a trend known as “thread” accounts. Usually run by teenagers, they feature screenshots from other social media platforms, like Twitter, and are focused on sharing life advice with the millions of young people flocking to Instagram. The owners of these accounts post about things like skin care, beauty tips, weight loss, and mental health, and have racked up hundreds of thousands of followers. They’ve become mini content empires all their own, and earn thousands of dollars in ad revenue.   Continue reading “These Teens Are Making Thousands Of Dollars Promoting Risky DIY “Self-Care” Tips”

Blocking sunlight to cool the Earth will not save humanity’s farmland from climate change, according to a new study that dismisses a leading global warming prevention theory.

Researchers had speculated that injecting particles into the atmosphere would lower rising global temperatures enough to stop crops from dying out.

But scientists analysing the past effects of Earth-cooling volcanic eruptions showed that shielding the atmosphere damages crops as much as it helps them.   Continue reading “Blocking sunlight to cool the Earth will not work”
