What to do when a school is infested with vermin, when textbooks are outdated, when students can’t even read? Perhaps the answer is sue the government.
That’s what seven students in Detroit have done. Their class-action suit filed against the state of Michigan asserts that education is a basic right, and that they have been denied it.

The Huck Finn on Morris Avenue in Union is an unremarkable, typical Jersey diner, where the usual three-egg omelets and burgers share the menu with Greek salads, tuna sandwiches and, of course, meatloaf.
But it has a more notorious claim to fame. In November 2005, authorities made a gruesome discovery in the trunk of a silver Acura that had sat undisturbed for weeks in the back of the diner’s big parking lot.

Two men disguised as Walmart employees attempted to steal several thousand dollars worth of merchandise from a metro Atlanta store, according to Peachtree City police.

WARSAW, Poland (AP) — A joint statement by the prime ministers of Poland and Israel was meant to lay to rest a months-long dispute over how to remember Polish behavior during the Holocaust. Instead, the document has re-opened wounds that go back decades.
Prime ministers Benjamin Netanyahu and Mateusz Morawiecki signed and recited the statement in their respective capitals last week after Poland scrapped potential prison terms for anyone claiming the country bore some responsibility for the Holocaust. Hundreds of thousands of Americans with unpaid tax debts will not be able to apply for or renew passports until their debts are settled, as federal officials step up enforcement of a law passed by Congress in 2015.

While the headline prints in today’s jobs report were solid with the exception of hourly earnings, which disappointed consensus expectations on both a monthly and annual basis, however not too dramatically earning the report a “goldilocks” name, a look below the surface reveals at least one ugly side to today’s jobs report: all the job gains were for part-time workers, while full-time employment dipped modestly.

In a move straight out of the Soviet Union handbook, PG&E has warned they may cut electrical power to some California residents during “extreme weather” to help prevent wildfires.

Overall, 255,000 Americans, 85-years-old and over, were working over the past 12 months. That’s 4.4 percent of Americans that age, up from 2.6 percent in 2006, before the recession. A website and related app that allows local residents to request maintenance or non-emergency services from the city has received 16,015 complaints with the keyword ‘feces’ in the last week at the time of this writing, and many pertain to human waste in public places. When Crystal Reynolds Fisher’s 18-year-old son ended up on life support for a 104-degree fever, she did what any working mom would do: she called out of work so she could be with him. But when she contacted her manager to let her know, she was not prepared for such a cruel, heartless reaction, Buzzfeed reports.
Crystal, who lives in Michigan, works at a PS Food Mart, a convenience store run by the company Folk Oil. A Connecticut man who was assaulted by three juveniles while at work has been sentenced to prison for stabbing one of the attackers.
