Highline College in Washington state is on lockdown after reports of gunfire on the campus south of Seattle, the college said Friday morning in Facebook posts and automated phone recordings.
“They’re looking for and trying to confirm that shots were fired,” said Washington State Patrol trooper Rick Johnson, whose agency was asked to shut down a portion of Interstate 5 near the campus while other agencies investigate the reports. John’s freshman year at James Madison University started out great. He did well in his classes. He made friends easily. He even started dating a fellow student. But just a couple weeks into his first semester, John’s world came crashing down. The girl he had been dating accused him of sexual assault and took her charge to the campus authorities. James Madison promptly conducted an initial hearing and found that John was “not responsible.”

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — The West Virginia House voted 60-40 on Thursday to allow drilling for natural gas beneath property where 75 percent of owners of its royalty interests agree.
The bill now goes to the Senate.

In a decision that many had anticipated, the SEC Thursday night officially rejected a proposal from a Chinese investment group to purchase the Chicago Stock Exchange – which handles a tiny 1% of daily order volume – in an acquisition that would have created a conduit for a Chinese entity to exert more control over IPOs of China-based companies in the US, where markets are significantly more open to international investors than in China. CHICAGO – Cook County Jail officials said they plan to take action against several inmates who clapped for the man accused of shooting a police commander.
The jail released video showing about five inmates clapping as Shomari Legghette walked into his court hearing on Thursday.

The apparent collapse of the Trump administration’s “immigration deal”—which would have offered millions of illegal aliens amnesty in exchange for funding to build a border wall with Mexico—might very well have been a medium term gamble by the US President to deny the invaders residence while blaming the Democrats, DC analysts have speculated.
The proposal—which appeared to fly in the face of Trump’s election promises to scrap the extra-constitutional Obama Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program—offered participants in that program a 12-year path to residency, and by implication, for their immediate families as well. Should Iceland outlaw circumcision for boys – a common practice among Jews and Muslims – it will prevent Jewish communities from being established in the country, Jewish leaders warn.
A bill that would ban the nonmedical circumcision of boys younger than 18 has triggered a strong reaction from the heads of Scandinavian Jewish communities. It was submitted by members of four parties and would also punish offenders with up to six years in prison. Thursday, Fox News Channel’s Tucker Carlson responded to calls from the left for gun control in the wake of Wednesday’s mass shooting in Parkland, FL.
The “Tucker Carlson Tonight” host theorized some Democratic politicians and “blustery charlatans in the media” had much darker aims with their calls for gun control, which he argued had little to do with public safety. PARKLAND, Fla. — As the community of Parkland, Florida — and the entire nation– attempt to comprehend the “pure evil” actions of a school shooter, Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi announced the funeral expenses for the school shooting victims would be covered by the state.
“We will pay for the funeral expenses of these poor victims and we’ll do everything we can to help their families. The state of Florida, we will pay for counseling for the surviving victims. We will pay for students who need counseling,” Bondi said during a news conference Wednesday evening.
