The talent show is an annual event at the Maryland school, hosted by The Q Group. It was a snowy Friday afternoon when Mona Giles headed over to her friend’s house in the small gated community of Whispering Pines in Pine Lake, Alta.

The Hague, Netherlands — A prosecutor for the International Criminal Court (ICC) is pursuing a war crimes investigation against the United States for its conduct in Afghanistan following the 9/11 terror attacks.
Chief prosecutor Fatou Bensouda said last year that the U.S. military and CIA could be guilty of war crimes for its torture of detainees in Afghanistan between 2003 and 2014. The Guardian reported that “Bensouda’s report last year said the alleged US war crimes ‘were not the abuses of a few isolated individuals. Rather, they appear to have been committed as part of approved interrogation techniques in an attempt to extract ‘actionable intelligence’ from detainees.” Now, she is seeking approval from the court to move forward. According to the Wisconsin National Guard Public Affairs Office, a two-day military drill will take place in Columbia County and at Wisconsin’s Emergency Operation Center in Madison simulating a total power grid collapse on November 15-16.
As the press release states “the public should not be alarmed or concerned if they notice an increased law enforcement presence and military personnel, as well as vehicles and equipment, including non-military unmanned aerial vehicles” in the drilling region. USA Today released a video showing that available modifications for an “AR-15 style rifle” include a “Chainsaw Bayonet.” They also listed adding a pump shotgun attachment to the underside of the gun.

Rand Paul’s neighbors are calling into question reports suggesting the Kentucky senator’s character and libertarianism contributed to one member of their community allegedly attacking him at his home in Bowling Green, KY, last week.
Police arrested Paul’s long-time neighbor, 59-year-old retired doctor Rene Boucher, and charged him with fourth-degree assault after he allegedly blindsided the senator, who was reportedly mowing his lawn. In a meeting Tuesday, the DC Council Committee of the Whole voted unanimously to a measure that would advance the possibility of adding a statue dedicated to the late mayor in front of the Wilson Building. When the Supreme Court meets later today to discuss pending petitions for review, the justices’ conference calendar will include a pivotal Second Amendment case: Kolbe v. Hogan.
In Kolbe v. Hogan, the full Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals upheld Maryland’s ban of semiautomatic rifles and detachable ammunition magazines that exceed ten rounds. In doing so, the Fourth Circuit became the fourth federal appellate court to uphold the constitutionality of a ban on “assault” weapons and large-capacity magazines. The Second, Seventh, and District of Columbia circuits have previously upheld similar bans, and, to date, the Supreme Court has refused to enter the fray.
