Those searching for the truth about what happened in the shoot-down of the Malaysia airliner over Ukraine can take little comfort from the history of another passenger jet that was blasted out of the sky over the Soviet Union more than three decades ago: The Kremlin at the time dodged, weaved and obfuscated. Today, we still don’t know what exactly happened to Korean Airlines Flight 007.

I was The Associated Press’ Moscow bureau chief when a Soviet Sukhoi-15 fighter downed KAL 007 on Sept. 1, 1983. The passenger plane was about to leave Soviet airspace after more than two hours of flying off-course above super-secret military installations along the Pacific coast. Pilots on the New York to Seoul flight via Anchorage, Alaska, had apparently put wrong navigation points into the on-flight computer. All 269 people on board were killed.   Continue reading “Reporter recalls Soviet evasion in ’83 jet downing”

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — A Salt Lake City attorney is arguing in a lawsuit that the FBI has video of the Oklahoma City bombing that shows a second person was involved.

The case is at the heart of Jesse Trentadue’s quest to explain his brother’s mysterious jail cell death 19 years ago, which has rekindled long-dormant questions about whether others were involved in the deadly 1995 blast.   Continue reading “Trial opening over video of Oklahoma City bombing”

WASHINGTON (AP) — After more than six weeks of sometimes testy talks, House and Senate negotiators have agreed on a compromise plan to fix a veterans health program scandalized by long patient wait times and falsified records covering up delays.

The chairmen of the House and Senate Veterans Affairs committees have scheduled a news conference Monday afternoon to unveil a plan expected to authorize billions in emergency spending to lease 27 new clinics, hire more doctors and nurses and make it easier for veterans who can’t get prompt appointments with VA doctors to obtain outside care.   Continue reading “After 6 weeks, finally a deal on VA health care”

This week, in the aftermath of the Q1 -2.9% GDP disaster, the biggest “non-recessionary” drop in 67 years which was blamed on harsh weather (because there have never been harsh winters in the past 67 years), we get the first glimpse of what Q2 GDP was in the US economy. It is expected to print just shy of 3%. However, one person disagrees: Gary Shilling believes that not only will Q2 GDP be closer to 1% than to 3%, there is a fairly good chance it could be negative, which of course would mean that the US economy has officially entered a recession.   Continue reading “Gary Shilling: “Q2 GDP Was Closer To 1% Than To 3%. It Could Even Be A Negative Number””

Our US Border Patrol agents are literally serving on the front lines in the ongoing border crisis invasion, and morale is suffering because they aren’t getting the support they need.

Agents are finding their hours are getting cut and their ammo is being limited.  This is happening while they are constantly getting shot at by cartel criminals and corrupt Mexican military units, while being ordered to retreat if they come under attack.   Continue reading “Border Patrol Agents Quit to Protest Obama’s Insane Policies”

INDIANA (INTELLIHUB) — As of July 7, 2014, over 30,000 “unaccompanied” migrant children have been trafficked into the U.S. and handed off to “sponsors” by the Department of Defense and FEMA themselves under direct orders of the Obama Administration. In fact, the situation is so dire that makeshift camps are currently being set up in airport hangars and large empty box department stores such as unused and or abandon Wal-Mart properties.

Moreover, last Thursday, about 200 unaccompanied illegal migrant children were dropped off in Indiana causing some stir.   Continue reading “200 minors from South America dumped in Indiana by Obama Administration”

Victims of the 9/11 attacks and their families are entitled to big tax breaks, but many are missing out because the IRS isn’t telling them about the benefit.

Under a law passed months after the attacks, disability income resulting from terrorism is not taxable.

That means thousands of cops, firefighters and other first responders sickened after working at the site, and the families of those who’ve died, can claim $10,000, or the last three years of taxes the victim paid, whichever amount is larger.   Continue reading “IRS fails to inform 9/11 victims of tax breaks, leaving many first responders without refunds”

After a lull of a few months, meteor madness is set to descend once again, starting with the Delta Aquarids, which peak before dawn on Tuesday July 29.

They are best viewed starting at about 2 a.m. Daylight Saving Time, until dawn arrives. The farther south you are, the better the shower will be, though it will permeate all but the northernmost skies.   Continue reading “Delta Aquarid Shooting Stars Make Skies Sparkle”
