Led Zeppelin is being sued for copyright infringement over ‘Stairway to Heaven,’ perhaps the most well-known song in the legendary rock band’s vast music catalog. The suit is being brought by the founding bassist of Spirit, an obscure 1960s band that Led Zeppelin toured the U.S. with back in 1968 and 1969. Bloomberg Businessweek was the first to report the news of the lawsuit, which brings with it the potential to have a seismic impact on the history of rock and roll.

There are three different stages in a life-and-death self-defense scenario, but before we go into those a quick story will help.

This story is true to the best of my memory and does take place in a war zone. The story, the tactics and weaponry do not apply to a normal self-defense scenario, but the three stages are still there.   Continue reading “How To Survive A High Intensity Firefight”

This Ain’t Hell

Remember about 6 months ago? When I wrote that the FBI had serious concerns about the possibility for fraud concerning those ObamaCare subsidies because the data used to calculate them would be reported using the “honor system”?

Well, it looks like there’s a damn good chance the FBI was right to be concerned. Because now we’re seeing the first data regarding just how well income information reported by those qualifying for subsidies matches up with income data on file at the IRS and other government agencies.   Continue reading “About Those ObamaCare Subsidies . . . .”

A faded photograph of Marcellus Emery appeared in the Aug. 12, 1931 edition of the Bangor Daily News to illustrate a memoir about the 1861 sacking of Emery’s newspaper office.Free North Carolina

The editorial was re-printed in the New York Evening Day-Book of 18 April 1861.   Continue reading ““If I were a Southerner, as I am a Northerner, while a foreign troop was landed in my country, I would never lay down my arms – never, never, NEVER!””

The Buffalo News – by Harold McNeil

Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard told legislators Thursday that it is solely up to the courts – not them – to determine how he may use cellphone surveillance equipment to track persons of interest.

Howard told the Legislature’s Public Safety Committee that the Stingray surveillance device the office has owned since 2008 is used only for tracking a person’s movements, not for snooping into the content of phone communications.   Continue reading “Sheriff rejects Erie County Legislature oversight on cell phone monitoring”

Perhaps the most unsettling recent event was the announcement by the CME that it was looking at putting daily price limit curbs on gold and silver futures.   Why now?  The daily volatility of gold is at a 4-yr low.  Why were limits not in place a year ago when the bullion banks took the price of gold down $200 in a 24 hour trading period?

The only reason to put price limit curbs in is to prevent true price discovery.
Something is seriously wrong behind the scenes and I have a bad feeling – as do many of my colleagues – that we might find out exactly what it is before the end of the summer…   Continue reading “CME Attempts To Install Price Limits On Gold & Silver Reflects Frantic Desperation”
