Ammon Bundy’s lawyers intend to argue that the federal government doesn’t have the authority to prosecute protesters who took over the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge, claiming that the federal government lacks control of the land.

The U.S. Constitution granted “very limited powers” to the federal government, and that once Oregon became a state, the federal government lost a right to own land inside the state’s borders, his attorney Lissa Casey wrote in a court motion filed late Friday.   Continue reading “Ammon Bundy to challenge authority of feds to prosecute Oregon standoff defendants”

At first blush, it sounds like your typical sports celebrity meet and greet. Avi Herman, 10, and his brother, Jonah, 7, were waiting patiently for Odell Beckham, Jr. to arrive. Before the New York Giants wide receiver came, there was a football clinic where a few NFL coaches gave throwing pointers to the some 100 kids gathered around. After about two hours, Beckham—he, of the now-iconic meme catch—finally showed up and was promptly mobbed, by both children and their parents alike. The NFL pro then spent the next two hours signing footballs and posing for photos with his fans. Both got signed footballs, baseball caps and jerseys.   Continue reading “Passover for the rich: Inside the lavish getaways where you might run into Odell Beckham, Jr.”

Recognizing the possibility of a contested convention in Cleveland this summer, Republicans are considering an electronic system to capture votes on what could be a contentious set of procedural motions leading up to nominating a presidential candidate.

The Republican National Committee agreed Thursday not to change the rules of the convention at this point, but is exploring changes to the way that delegate votes are recorded.  The idea of electronic voting is gaining steam now because in a disputed floor fight, voice votes may not cut it.   Continue reading “Is Electronic Voting Coming to the GOP Convention?”

Laura Wilkerson, whose son Josh was brutally murdered by an illegal immigrant after school, told a House Immigration and Border Security Subcommittee on Tuesday that she blames Congress for her son’s murder.

“I did not put my kid in harm’s way when he went to school that day. You did. Every one of you is elected by an American. It is time for you to stand in the gap for Americans. I’m so tired of being up here and going over the same thing. You’re elected by Americans. Do something. It is your job,” said Wilkerson.

The War on Cash has many fronts.

The latest battle is for the face of the currency itself, and the central bankers, who control the front anyway, have imposed a symbolic defeat against the leaders in America’s past who have fought against the stranglehold of the money makers.

Naturally, there are liberal politics at play, fighting for every inch of ground in the war for ideological re-engineering. History is being whitewashed, various figures of antiquity rolling in their graves….   Continue reading “Andrew Jackson, Who Fought Central Bank, Removed from $20 As “Public Concern for Liberty” Erased”

On Wednesday, April 20, 2016, the U.S. Supreme Court will hear oral argument in the case ofBirchfield v. North Dakota, an important Fourth Amendment case that should be of interest to everyone who drives a car.

In recent years, the legislatures of some states have criminalized a driver’s choice to assert his constitutional right not to be subject to an unlawful search and seizure.  These legislatures have enacted laws which make it a crime for a driver to refuse to consent to searches and seizures via breathalyzer and blood chemical tests after being placed under arrest after a routine traffic stop.    Continue reading “Drive a Car — Waive Your Constitutional Rights”
