Mounted Border Patrol officers arrested nearly three dozen border crossers decked out in camo near the Arizona–New Mexico state line, an official said Thursday.

In the following example, an innocent child in Pennsylvania was nearly turned into Swiss cheese by a Frederick County sheriff’s deputy and Pennsylvania trooper who mistook him for a murder suspect and opened fire on him. In 2020, the FBI processed a record 39.7 million firearm background checks – the most of any year since the agency started recording the data. Beginning Monday, deputies with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office along with law enforcement agencies throughout Oregon will use federally funded overtime to educate the public about safety belt and child seat laws, including a law passed in 2017 increasing safety for children under age two.
Sergeant Mark Norris of DCSO said “These grant dollars allow us to educate the public in hopes of reducing injury or fatal car crashes”. Democrats on the House Foreign Affairs Committee backed away on Tuesday from requesting a delay in a planned U.S. arms sale to Israel, but signaled they would continue to pressure the White House on its policy toward the region.
According to multiple reports, Chairman Gregory Meeks, D-N.Y., had been expected to request a delay in the sale of $735 million in precision-guided missiles amid ongoing clashes between the Israeli military and Hamas militants that have left hundreds dead. Around 39 million U.S. households will begin receiving periodic Child Tax Credit (CTC) payments worth up to $300 on July 15, a new benefit from the latest stimulus package, the Treasury Department announced Monday.
The $1.9 trillion American Rescue plan includes a one-year expansion of the CTC that increases the credit amount and allows it to be distributed in periodic payments in advance. GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip (AP) — Palestinians grabbed their children and belongings and fled neighborhoods on the outskirts of Gaza City on Friday as Israel unleashed a heavy barrage of tank fire and airstrikes, killing a family of 6 in their home. Israel said it was clearing a network of militant tunnels ahead of a possible ground invasion.
Israel has massed troops along the border and called up 9,000 reservists as fighting intensifies with the Islamic militant group Hamas, which controls the Gaza Strip. Palestinian militants have fired some 1,800 rockets, and the Israeli military has launched more than 600 airstrikes, toppling at least three high-rise apartment buildings, and has shelled some areas with tanks stationed near the frontier. WASHINGTON – The Biden administration dispatched a top State Department diplomat to the Middle East “immediately” to try to de-escalate the deadly conflict between Israel and Hamas, Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced Wednesday.
President Joe Biden faces growing pressure to help stem the violence and heightened international alarm over the spiraling death toll. When the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released new guidelines last month for mask wearing, it announced that “less than 10 percent” of Covid-19 transmission was occurring outdoors. Media organizations repeated the statistic, and it quickly became a standard description of the frequency of outdoor transmission.

A California police officer has been killed in the line of duty and another one injured after they were shot while serving a search warrant.
The incident occurred at approximately 5:30 p.m. at an apartment complex in San Luis Obispo, California — approximately 10 miles north of Pismo beach — when the two officers arrived at the residence on Camellia Court, off of Margarita Avenue near South Higuera Street in the city, according to a statement issued by the city of San Luis Obispo. CHILOQUIN, Ore. — Firefighters worked through the night to surround the Meadow Fire, which grew from prescribed burn operations scrapped on Wednesday morning.
According to the South Central Oregon Fire Management Partnership (SCOFMP), the Meadow Fire burns on 815 acres within the 4,000-acre area originally planned for the North 2 prescribed burn. The fire is roughly five miles northeast of Chiloquin, and officials say it is still moving away from the community. A Nashville police officer was shot while responding to a 911 call of a woman shot at a house — and the department says it believes the call was a “setup” by the shooter to get authorities to respond.

A federal judge on Wednesday vacated the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s temporary federal eviction moratorium, which had been extended multiple times since being enacted by the Trump administration last fall.
