When most of us think of a State of Emergency, we think of isolated natural disasters like hurricanes, winter storms or a flood that passes through. In those cases it’s quite obvious when the emergency is over. But what if an emergency is declared for something that hasn’t happened yet? How will we know when it’s over?

Both Pennsylvania and Connecticut governors recently declared a State of Emergency, not because a disaster is taking place at this moment, but because bad things may happen in the future. This is an incredible development that citizens should be concerned about.   Continue reading “Fearing a Future Emergency, Governors Declare a State of Emergency”

A Doctors Without Borders physician just returned to New York City after treating patients in Guinea. He brought the deadly virus home with him.

Dr. Craig Spencer, aged 33, returned to the US 10 days ago.  He began to show symptoms on Wednesday, and was put in isolation at Bellevue Hospital this morning.   Continue reading “NYC doctor tests positive for Ebola, but “there is no reason for New Yorkers to be alarmed””

A public tweet from a large government supplier of emergency response products specializing in “high risk events” says that Disaster Assistance Response Teams were told to prepare to be activated in the month of October. The shocking revelation, made on the Goldenstate Fire/EMS Twitter page, suggests that not only did someone know that the Ebola virus would be reaching America, but that they knew exactly when it would happen.

“What we are now hearing is just the tip of the iceburg as we enter October,” noted the company’s Twitter spokesperson. “Ebola virus will cripple EMS and hospitals.”   Continue reading ““Disaster Teams Were Notified Months Ago They Would Be Activated in October””

Gates-1The Produce News – by Chip Carter

VIDALIA, GA — It has been rumored and discussed on the streets here for months that the Seattle-based Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation or Cascade Investment LLC, the Gates’ private trust located in Kirkland, WA, is actively seeking to purchase producing farms in the Vidalia area, renowned for its sweet onions and the center of that industry.

Already, two entities — Coggins Farms in Lake Park, GA, and more recently Stanley Farms and its subsidiaries in Lyons, GA — have been sold and, while the trail is murky, documents and interviews with other Vidalia-area growers link the purchases to Kirkland and seemingly to Gates.   Continue reading “Is Bill Gates buying up farms in Vidalia? Gwen Daniels Courthouse News – by RYAN KOCIAN

AUSTIN, Texas (CN) – An Austin policeman shot four times “point blank” into the windshield of a waitress fleeing a late-night attack from drunks on a “crowded and boisterous” street, then arrested her and impounded her car for 10 months, the woman claims in court.
Gwendolyn Daniels sued Officer Robert Krummel and the City of Austin in Federal Court on Monday for excessive force, unlawful arrest and conversion.
Daniels claims she had just finished her late night shift as a server at the Coyote Ugly bar when she tried to leave the barricaded East 6th Street area in her vehicle.
As she did so, she says, “several drunken patrons from the nearby bars” attacked her vehicle. It was about 2:20 a.m., Oct. 20, 2013.    Continue reading “Woman Calls Austin Cop Trigger-Happy”

On Tuesday more energy was created by UK wind farms than by nuclear power stations, reports the National Grid.

Wind farms made up 14.2 per cent of all power generated, while nuclear power contributed 13.2 per cent, although the energy network operator said this was due to a combination of unusually strong winds and intermittent service from the power plants.

The 24-hour triumph of wind follows a similar landmark on Saturday, when stormy weather allowed wind turbines to generate a record 6,372 megawatts – supplying a fifth of the UK’s energy needs, although at a time when demand was low. boyThe Stir – by Ericka Sóuter

This story is horrifying on so many levels. First off, it’s hard to believe that a 10-year-old would be capable of beating an elderly person to death. But that is just the crime that Tristen Kurilla is accused of. The second shocking aspect of this story is that now his parents don’t want him back. They reportedly would rather have the poor, troubled child behind bars awaiting trial than with them.

Kurilla was charged as an adult after killing a 90-year-old woman who was being cared for by his grandfather in Damascus Township, Pennsylvania. The reason? He asked her a question and she reportedly yelled at him. That is what set this kid off. It’s as shocking as it is frightening, to be sure.   Continue reading “Family of 10-Year-Old Murder Suspect Doesn’t Want Him Back”

Death Threats Aimed at Boy, 11, Who Bagged Rare Albino DeerRoyal Oak Patch – by Beth Dalbey

Jordan Browne, one of the hosts of Michigan Out-of-Doors Television, knew the story of 11-year-old Gavin Dingman’s feat in the woods – he bagged a rare 12-point albino buck with a crossbow – would blow up the moment he posted it.

A seasoned outdoorsman and journalist who is acting at the Dingman family’s spokesman, Browne also knew comments would turn more vicious the farther outside of Michigan readers lived. But in an age of social media, the post reached more people than even he imagined, circulating around the globe.   Continue reading “Death Threats Aimed at Boy, 11, Who Bagged Rare Albino Deer”
