As the waters in Louisiana continue to rise, over a thousand motorists stranded by the flood have been stuck on Interstate 12 for more than 24 hours. Southeast Louisiana has been hard-hit before with flooding, and a decade after Hurricane Katrina, people are still trying to rebuild.

Some families were trying to evacuate, as flood waters crept closer to their homes, while others were going about their day-to-day business. Protesters fired gunshots, hurled bricks and set a gas station on fire in the U.S. mid-western city of Milwaukee on Saturday night, hours after a patrol officer shot and killed an armed suspect who took flight after a traffic stop, authorities said.

The 23-year-old suspect, who had a lengthy arrest record, was carrying a stolen handgun loaded with 23 rounds of ammunition when police pulled over the vehicle for unspecified “suspicious activity,” authorities said. A Muslim cleric and an associate were fatally shot by a lone gunman on Saturday while walking together following afternoon prayers at a mosque in the New York City borough of Queens, authorities said.

More rain Saturday was expected to swamp already soggy ground across Louisiana and other parts of the Gulf Coast, as Louisiana’s governor announced that crews had rescued more than 1,000 people, some of whom were clinging to trees to stay safe.

Officials said at least two people had died in the floods. Gov. A hidden listening device in Washington D.C. alerted police to the shooting of DNC staffer Seth Rich last month.

As reported by the New York Daily News, officers were lead to the location of the shooting at around 4:20 a.m. on July 10 “using the ShotSpotter system.”

A man accused of aggravated murder in Ohio has been arrested in southern New Mexico for allegedly shooting and killing a local police officer during a traffic stop, officials said on Saturday.
