Nearly 30,000 foreigners from state sponsors of terrorism have gotten visas since 2007 through the diversity visa lottery.

President Donald Trump wants Congress to end the program, which benefits foreigners from nations that don’t have high levels of immigration to the U.S. He increased his public pressure against the program after an Uzbek recipient of the diversity visa lottery allegedly killed eight in a recent terrorist attack in New York City.   Continue reading “Nearly 30k Diversity Visas Have Been Given To Immigrants From Terror States”

Events appear to be spinning out of control in the Middle East, and the threat a Saudi-Iranian war is looking increasingly credible. Make no mistake, an out and out conflict between the two nations would be an unmitigated disaster for the region and the world.

Last week, Houthi rebels in Yemen launched a missile targeting a Saudi airport near Riyadh. The missile was intercepted, but a Saudi-led military coalition battling the Yemeni rebels called the attack a “blatant military aggression by the Iranian regime which may amount to an act of war.” The Saudis reserved the “right to respond”, according to the official Saudi Press Agency.

Soon, only their method and standard of “proper behavior” will be allowed.  Maybe that’s a part of what the whole circus of late has been about:  conform, behave, embrace sameness.  Jus’ speculating.

The US is being pushed out of the grain market as Russia’s bumper wheat harvest has dragged down prices to record lows. Russian agricultural exports are booming thanks to a weaker national currency and massive investment.

“We are pushing America aside in some markets, and we are satisfied with this,” said Russia’s Agriculture Minister Aleksandr Tkachev.

This year Russian farmers are expected to harvest the biggest crop in over a century. Russia will produce at least 83 million tons of wheat in the current growing season, according to estimates by The Wall Street Journal.   Continue reading “Russia squeezing US out as agricultural superpower”

The EU has moved a step closer towards having a joint military force by signing an agreement on a permanent command structure. PESCO, or Permanent Structured Cooperation, was signed by 23 members of the 28-strong European Union on Monday.

EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini supported the move, hailing it as an “historic moment.” Backed by a €5-billion ($6.5-billion) EU defense fund, PESCO “will enable member states to use the economy of scale of Europe and in this manner to fulfil the gap of output that we have.”   Continue reading “NATO not enough? LAS VEGAS (AP) — Las Vegas ramped up security for the annual Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon, which was the first major outdoor event on the Strip since the mass shooting. The city posted snipers and used a helicopter to watch for danger as tens of thousands of people participated in the race. Many wore T-shirts that read “Vegas Strong,” in memory of the Oct. 1 attack.

Some runners who picked up their race packages Thursday at a convention center mentioned defiance, strength and resilience among their reasons to take part in the event less than two months after the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history rattled a city known for its partying atmosphere.   Continue reading “Ramped up security at Las Vegas marathon after mass shooting”

LAUNCESTON, Australia, Nov 13 (Reuters) – U.S. crude oil is flooding into Asia, and may continue to do so as the arbitrage window that was initially created by Hurricane Harvey remains open, even though the disruption from the costliest storm to hit the Gulf of Mexico has faded.

A record amount of U.S. crude is scheduled to arrive in Asia in November, according to vessel-tracking and port data compiled by Thomson Reuters Oil Research and Forecasts.

The data show 19.7 million barrels of U.S. oil is due to arrive across Asia in November, equivalent to about 657,000 barrels per day (bpd). The data are filtered to show only vessels that are currently underway, and those that are discharging or have discharged their cargoes.   Continue reading “US crude exports to Asia poised to hit new record”

We continue to live in a country with two very different stories to tell.  In one of the stories, we have a country with a very low unemployment rate and a record in the stock market.  In the other story we live in a place where 95,385,000 Americans are not in the labor force.  This new record was reached in the latest set of data released by the Bureau of Labor and Statistics (BLS).  This is a bigger issue than most would like to admit.  Many older Americans are drawing substantially from the government and we now have a younger American population working in low wage positions.  This is a new record that isn’t something to be proud about.   Continue reading “A new record yet again: 95,385,000 Americans not in labor force. WEB Notes: What I find extremely interesting is now that we are hearing ISIS is defeated or near defeated, immediately we are hearing of escalated tensions with Iran. Now we have quotes from middle east leaders as the title indicates that paint Iran in the colors of the enemy. We all know how Saudi Arabia feels about it. A new precedent is beginning to form that points toward conflict with Iran. In today’s world, calling one a terrorist or a supporter of terrorism is a globally supported reason for war. We live in interesting times!
