A man was fatally shot by a Baton Rouge Police Department officer at an apartment complex in Baton Rouge Monday evening (Nov. 13), Louisiana State Police said.

The shooting occurred shortly after 6 p.m. at the Palms Apartments, in the 5600 block of McClleland Drive, the agency said in a news release. WAFB reported that a large crowd gathered at the scene, where the person who was shot was pronounced dead.

The Baton Rouge officer was called to the scene to escort a case worker for the Department of Children and Family Services while the case worker conducted an investigation, the statement from State Police says.   Continue reading “Man shot dead by Baton Rouge police officer: State Police”

Considering the history of television news a few years ago, iconic anchor Ted Koppel declared that CBS’ 1968 debut of “60 Minutes” forever altered the landscape of broadcast journalism: A news program drew enough advertising to turn a profit. As Koppel told it, “60 Minutes” showed broadcasters that news divisions could make money – which was a huge shift in how management executives thought of news, affecting both the quality and type of coverage broadcast over the publicly owned airwaves.

Until then, broadcast news in the U.S. had been a costly requirement media companies had to bear as part of getting permission to use the airwaves. “All of a sudden, making money became part of what we did,” Koppel told the audience of a “Frontline” series called “News War.”   Continue reading “Here’s why your local TV news is about to get even worse”

LAS VEGAS — In a surprising reversal, U.S. District Judge Gloria M. Navarro late Monday agreed to place Ryan Bundy on GPS monitoring and release him from jail to a halfway house on the eve of the Bunkerville trial.

The decision came after a full-day hearing in closed court as defense lawyers raised repeated questions about alleged government misrepresentations of evidence.

Among them: Prosecutors claimed Ryan Bundy had been stunned with a Taser during an arrest in Utah about 10 years ago, but a video played in court apparently showed that didn’t happen.    Continue reading “Judge grants Ryan Bundy’s release to a halfway house on eve of trial”

USA – -(Ammoland.com)- “King County Councilmembers have unanimously approved more than $600,000 to target accused domestic abusers who refuse to turn over their firearms to police, as required by law,” Seattle’s NBC affiliate  King 5 reports. “Federal law requires people served with domestic violence protection orders to surrender their firearms to police.”

The catalyst for the new-found emphasis is the Texas church massacre killer, whose domestic violence conviction was not entered by the Air Force into the National Criminal Information Center database.   Continue reading “Planned King County Gun Confiscations Foreshadow Larger, Wider Plans”

Free Thought Project – by Matt Agorist

A particularly disturbing video was submitted to the Free Thought Project this week showing the Orwellian implications of state-mandated vaccination laws. Porsha Rasheed was simply walking her six-year-old son to the bus stop last week when she was approached by a Claremont police officer and a representative of the school district and harassed in an attempt to find out the vaccination status of her child.

Rasheed, who appears to be well-informed of her rights, did the right thing and filmed the interaction and also refused to answer their questions. However, it does not take away from the sheer ominous nature of this type of activity.   Continue reading “Cops Threaten Mom at Child’s Bus Stop to Make Sure She’d Vaccinated Her Son”

During a November 13 appearance on NBC’s Today, former Vice President Joe Biden answered a question on Texas church attack hero Stephen Willeford by saying, “Well, first of all, the kind of gun being carried he shouldn’t be carrying.”

His response came in response to an audience member who was asking how Democrats can justify pushing gun control when it was clearly the presence of a gun in the hands of Willeford that ended the attack.   Continue reading “Joe Biden: AR-15 Used to Stop Texas Church Massacre Should Not Be Allowed”

Barbie’s breaking barriers! Ibtihaj Muhammad was the first-ever U.S. Olympic athlete to compete wearing a hijab at the 2016 Rio Olympic games. And now she has her very own Barbie — the first to ever wear a hijab in the brand’s 58-year history.

A one-of-a-kind doll made in her likeness was unveiled at Glamour’s Women of the Year Live Summit Monday, as the latest doll in Barbie’s “Shero” line (that would be female heroes), a program that celebrates boundary-breaking women intended to inspire the next generation.   Continue reading “The First-Ever Hijab-Wearing Barbie is Designed After Olympian Ibtihaj Muhammad”
