Americans are no strangers to food additives: the preservatives, coloring and flavoring agents that keep foods looking fresh and taste better. A product of our desire for fast, cheap and satisfying eats that underscores our detachment from actually fresh, locally sourced foods, they are found in everything from nutrition-boosting salad dressings to McDonald’s French fries. But are they safe?   Continue reading “FDA Bans Cancer-Causing Food Additives, but Won’t Enforce Until 2020”

(WASHINGTON) — A mind-altering medication related to the club drug Special K won U.S. approval Tuesday for patients with hard-to-treat depression, the first in a series of long-overlooked substances being reconsidered for severe forms of mental illness.

The nasal spray from Johnson & Johnson is a chemical cousin of ketamine, which has been used for decades as a powerful anesthetic to prepare patients for surgery. In the 1990s, the medication was adopted as a party drug by the underground rave culture due to its ability to produce psychedelic, out-of-body experiences. More recently, some doctors have given ketamine to people with depression without formal FDA approval.   Continue reading “This Trippy Ketamine-Like Drug Has Been Approved to Treat Depression”

The Assembly and Senate passed the legislation Monday, five weeks after lawmakers approved a package of other gun-control measures.   Continue reading “New York Legislature approves gun storage safety measure”

Pureed pastry may not sound appetizing, but Sweden is preparing to road test such a ‘dish’ as part of a new 3D-printed food project which aims to make higher-quality mushed meals and improve elderly people’s nutrition.

The number of adults who have trouble chewing or swallowing increases with age, resulting in a serious risk of malnourishment among the elderly, according to Evelina Höglund at the research institute ‘Rise’, which is behind the project.   Continue reading “Food of the future? Sweden to test 3D-printed meals on the elderly”

President Donald Trump signed an executive order on March 4 to aid the transition of active-duty service members and military veterans into the United States Merchant Marine.

Peter Navarro, assistant to the president and director of the Office of Trade and Manufacturing Policy, told reporters in a conference call before the signing that one of the broad themes behind the order relates to the national security strategy of 2017—where economic security is national security.   Continue reading “Trump Signs Executive Order on Transition of Troops Into Merchant Marines”

Having stuck to his guns, at least for a couple of months, on the need to withdraw US ground troops from Syria, President Trump is now loudly endorsing the new plan, which is to leave some US forces in Syria for an open-ended amount of time.

Trump responded to a joint letter from several members of Congress by saying he agrees 100% and that “all is being done.” The letter said it was essential to keep US ground troops in Syria “to ensure stability” in Syria.   Continue reading “Trump Says He Agrees 100% With Keeping US Troops in Syria”

A group of Democrats are hoping that they can roll back the war on drugs with a new federal marijuana legalization bill.

Dubbed the Marijuana Justice Act of 2019, the bill would see marijuana finally removed from the federal list of controlled substances, legalizing the plant on a nationwide level and removing a range of obstacles from vendors and purveyors across the United States.  Continue reading “New Senate Bill Would Legalize Marijuana Nationwide and Erase Possession Charges”

Every October, all residents of Alaska – from teachers and construction owners to retail clerks and business owners – find a check from the state in their mailboxes. The money doesn’t come because they overpaid their taxes or worked for the government. A rapidly growing number of counties in at least four states are declaring themselves Second Amendment sanctuaries, refusing to enforce gun-control laws that they consider to be infringements on the U.S. constitutional right to keep and bear arms.

Organizers of the pro-gun sanctuaries admit they took the idea from liberals who have created immigration sanctuaries across the United States where local officials defy the Trump administration’s efforts to enforce tougher immigration laws.   Continue reading “Defiant U.S. sheriffs push gun sanctuaries, imitating liberals on immigration”

Attleboro, MA — As the Free Thought Project reported last year, 2018 was the year of the snitches as neighbors turned in fellow neighbors to authorities for selling water, lemonade, or for simply being black at your own apartment complex pool. This see something say something society is the wet dream of the authoritarian. In spite of the ridicule and shaming these people receive online for calling the police for no reason, as the following case of a woman calling 911 because a dog humped her dog illustrates, they keep doing it.  Continue reading “Woman Calls Police On Man Because His Dog Humped Her Dog—At a Dog Park”

The Burning Platform

My original title for this article was going to be 30 Blocks of Potholes, Shitholes, and Assholes, but I didn’t want to offend the sensibilities of my highbrow readership. The trigger for that title was my morning commute on 34th Street in West Philly near the Philadelphia Zoo. This extremely well-traveled four lane highway resembles a moonscape of craters capable of blowing a tire (which I did a few years ago while turning onto Girard Avenue).

As I swerved through this obstacle course of government incompetence, I reflected upon how Philadelphia was a real shithole city run by Democrat asshole politicians (those not in prison yet). I’ve written dozens of articles about the 30 Blocks of Squalor over the last decade and one thing remains constant – West Philly is still a shithole, occupied by low income, low IQ, low morality, welfare state slaves who continue to vote for the same assholes who have enslaved them in squalor.   Continue reading “30 Blocks of Holes”

The University of South Dakota allegedly pressured the Student Bar Association to change the name of its event from “Hawaiian day” to “Beach Day.” However, after first keeping leis in the program, USD later advised against wearing them, calling them “culturally insensitive.”

Chandler, AZ — Sarah Beck and Brooks Bryce are speaking out to local media after their children were kidnapped by armed men because they let their 2-year-old son Heber recover from a fever at home—and not in the ER.

The nightmare for this family started 4 days ago when they brought their toddler to the doctor at the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine because he had a fever. The fever had gotten pretty high, 105, so the doctor told the family to take the baby to the ER.  Continue reading “Family Raided by Cops, Their Children Kidnapped—for Not Bringing Son to ER for a Fever”
