In November, according to transportation data provider FTR, orders for new Class-8 trucks — the heavy trucks that haul the products of the goods-based economy across the US — plunged nearly 50% from July and August, 35% from October, and 15% from November 2017, to 27,500 orders, the lowest all year.

This chart shows the percent change of Class-8 truck orders for each month compared to the same month a year earlier, which eliminates the effects of seasonality:   Continue reading “The Trucking Boom Ends – But no letup in freight rates yet.”

Since I moved back to Oregon five years ago I have seen things go from bad to worse. I left Southern Oregon for ten years and when this third generation Oregonian returned, It is not even recognizable at this point… Aside from all of the outsiders that have changed the towns into cities, the left wing “conservationists” / radicals, have destroyed our forests and rivers. I remember the beginning of this death spiral when I was a little kid. The spotted owl!!!!! We must shut down logging and mining NOW!!! Remember, the spotted owl is not native to Oregon… They put thousands of families out of jobs and into poverty. Continue reading “Oregon Wild Lands Act = Agenda 21”

According to recent reports, congressional leaders from both sides of the aisle are planning to sneak a bill criminalizing politically motivated boycotts of Israel into the end-of-the-year omnibus spending bill.

The bill’s original sponsor, Sen. Ben Cardin (D-Md.), is pushing Democratic leadership to include this bill, which has not moved forward thus far primarily because it violates the First Amendment. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) are reportedly leaning toward slipping the text into the spending bill, which needs to pass for the government to stay open.   Continue reading “Congress Is Trying to Use the Spending Bill to Criminalize Boycotts of Israel and Other Countries”

(Reuters) – A federal judge in Texas on Friday ruled the Affordable Care Act, commonly known as Obamacare, was unconstitutional based on its mandate requiring that people buy health insurance, a decision in a case that could reach the U.S. Supreme Court.

U.S. District Judge Reed O’Connor in Fort Worth agreed with a coalition of 20 states that a change in tax law last year eliminating a penalty for not having health insurance invalidated the entire Obamacare law.   Continue reading “Federal judge rules Obamacare unconstitutional”

Colorado used to be a fairly pro-gun state, but all that changed shortly after a shooting in an Aurora, CO movie theater. While the killer was caught and isn’t a risk to the public anymore, that didn’t mean anti-gun forces didn’t seize on the opportunity.

Since then, the state has seen a progression of anti-gun incrementalism. Unfortunately, the stupid doesn’t just stop with the state legislature. It seems the People’s Republic of Boulder wants to get in on the action and is now giving people who own so-called assault rifles just days to “certify” their weapons or face repercussions.   Continue reading “Boulder Residents Given Just Days To ‘Certify’ Rifles Or Face Consequences”

Singer, actor and producer Francis Albert Sinatra was one of the most popular and influential musical artists of the 20th century, and one of the best-selling music artists of all time, having sold more than 150 million records worldwide.

Sinatra was a political activist, beginning with his campaign for the election of Franklin D. Roosevelt. For someone with extensive and close ties to organized crime, it is curious that so many U.S. presidents chose to be friends with him. Sinatra was especially close to President John F. Kennedy, often inviting him to Hollywood and Las Vegas, where the two would womanize and party together. Beginning in the early 1970s, Sinatra switched his support to Republicans, endorsing Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan. In 1985, President Reagan presented Sinatra with the Presidential Medal of Freedom.   Continue reading “FBI declassified files: Frank Sinatra was a sex-slave trafficker and used mobster ties to get JFK elected”

New York City has agreed to a $2 million settlement with the family of a mentally ill woman who was fatally shot by a New York City police sergeant two years ago as she wielded a bat in the bedroom of her Bronx apartment, city officials said Thursday.

The agreement, which was reached this week, is the latest development in a highly contentious and at times racially charged debate surrounding the death of the woman, Deborah Danner. The case became a flash point in national discussions over whether police officers are too quick to shoot people and whether they are adequately trained to work with people suffering from severe mental illness.   Continue reading “New York City Agrees to Pay $2 Million to Family of Mentally Ill Woman Killed by Police”
