Phoenix, Arizona – On February 19, Senator John McCain was visiting the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism at Arizona State University’s Downtown campus for an interview series known as “Iconic Voices” when he was questioned about his support of the planned Rio Tinto copper mining project. McCain has received criticism for his role in passing the Southeast Arizona Land Exchange bill as part of the National Defense Authorization Act of 2015. The law allows for the sale of the Oak Flat campground to international mining company, Rio Tinto. Oak Flat is historically important to the San Carlos Apache.   Continue reading “John McCain Confronted (Again) For Theft Of Sacred Lands”

One of the most infuriating aspects of the Flint water crisis is that residents are not only still being charged for their poisoned water, but they’re being charged higher rates than almost anywhere in the country.

Residents continue to pay $864 a year for water that is making them sick, more than double what most Americans pay for water service. Flint’s water service charges total 7 percent of the average household income, compared to the United Nations recommendation of 3 percent.   Continue reading “Nestle is Pumping Millions of Gallons from the Great Lakes for Free While Flint Pays For Poison”

Meriden, CT — Responding to reports of an intoxicated man asleep in the middle of the road, a Meriden, Connecticut police officer said, flatly, “I think we oughta just f***ing pop him.”

If by now you still have any lingering doubts about the widening disconnect between police and civilians — or the culture of violence and contempt rampant in police culture — this footage could tip your opinion. Though the incident was captured on video by dash camera and audio by body cam, it was only released on Thursday following a Freedom of Information Act request by the Record-Journal.   Continue reading “Disturbing Video Catches Cop Plotting to Shoot an Unconscious Man in Need of Medical Help”

I must say that as a lifelong practicing Catholic, I am really disappointed and disgusted at what Pope Francis said about Donald Trump, claiming that he’s not Christian for wanting to build a wall between the U.S. and Mexico. That is outrageous and dishonest, especially given the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops own official document on this matter, as well as the official teaching on immigration outlined in the Catechism of the Catholic Church! In addition, I’ve been to the Vatican and to churches throughout the world. Most every Catholic church property has a fence or wall around it, and every single one has locks on their doors. Many Catholic churches even have ‘tow-away’ signs in their parking lot for unauthorized vehicles! I’ve even seen 24-hour Catholic chapels that have signs posted to not give money to beggars and to call the police on them. To claim that securing your God-given right to your country’s sovereignty makes one somehow un- Christian is an outrageous fraud and scandal.   Continue reading “Hey Trump & Pope Francis, Get This: U.S. Catholic Bishops Official Document States The “Duty of Government Is To Secure One’s Border And Enforce The Law For The Sake Of The Common Good.””
