LOS ANGELES, CA — A scandal has been discovered inside the LAPD, in which nearly half of the squad cars in one division had their recording equipment tampered with, making accountability more difficult for the dozens of officers involved.  The troubling discovery was exacerbated by police supervisors who made little effort to keep the oversight commission informed.

An audit of the Southeast fleet showed that out of about 160 vehicles, 72 were discovered to have had antennas removed, the LA Times reported.  The antennas are part of a system that allows cruiser footage to be accompanied by detailed audio, even when the officer is far away from his vehicle.  The audio is collected through microphones worn on officers’ clothing, which is sent back to the cruisers via a transmitters attached to officers’ belts.   Continue reading “Recording equipment went missing in half of LAPD cars examined”

Rear Admiral Matthew Klunder, the chief of Naval Research, told a round table group recently the futuristic electromagnetic rail gun had already undergone extensive testing on land and would be mounted on the USNS Millinocket, a high-speed vessel, for sea trials beginning in 2016.   Continue reading “U.S. Navy to test futuristic, super-fast gun at sea in 2016”

“We’ll also send another ship to the Black Sea within a week,” Derek Chollet, the US Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs told the House Armed Services Committee, as he said the Department of Defense sanctioned to prolong USS Truxtun’s stay in the Black Sea “to conduct exercises with Romanian and Bulgarian naval forces,” after it left the region on March 21.   Continue reading “Second US Navy destroyer heads to Black Sea”

It’s a simple theory: More guns in the hands of law-abiding citizens are more likely to prevent criminal negligence. This isn’t just the conjecture of right-wing extremists as the Left would have you believe; rather, it has strong statistical support in study after study.

You can now add another analysis to that mix – according to economist Mark Gius, more guns still equal less crime.   Continue reading “Concealed Carry and Murder Rates”

war in syriaFree-Man’s Perspective – by Paul Rosenberg

Last year, lots of powerful groups tried to get a war going in Syria. It seemed to me that the necessary ground work hadn’t been done and that they might not be able to pull it off. Thankfully, that’s how it happened.

And by “necessary ground work,” I’m not referring to the military operators the US government had in Syria for a year or two prior; I’m talking about making the American populace eager for a new war. That’s a crucial and often ignored factor.   Continue reading “The War Drums are Beating”

This would translate into an average eight-year longevity gain if the result could be repeated in humans, Swiss researchers reported in the journal Nature Communications.

A team led by Michael Ristow at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich used a common dietary supplement called glucosamine on laboratory mice after testing it on worms.   Continue reading “Human Dietary Supplement Linked to Longer Life in Mice”
