An Amazon robot tore open a can of bear repellent at the company’s New Jersey warehouse on Wednesday, hospitalizing 24 workers. One employee is in critical condition, according to ABC Newswhile 30 others were treated on the scene. The 1.3-million-square-foot Amazon fulfillment center in the town of Robbinsville, New Jersey, employs more than 3,000 people.

A preliminary investigation determined that the bear repellent, which is like pepper spray for aggressive or charging bears, fell off a shelf. But a spokesperson for Robbinsville Township further clarified that an automated machine punctured the 9-ounce can, releasing its toxic fumes. TOKYO (AP) — A Marine refueling plane and a fighter jet crashed into the Pacific Ocean off Japan’s southwestern coast after colliding early Thursday, and rescuers found two of the seven crew members, one of them in stable condition, officials said.

Mother Jones reports that Rep. Mike Thompson (D-CA) met with gun control groups that included the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, Everytown for Gun Safety, the Center for American Progress, the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence, and Gabby Giffords’ group.
