FOR OVER 17 years, Moath al-Alwi has been held at Guantánamo Bay without charge. A Yemeni citizen, al-Alwi is one of Guantánamo’s “forever prisoners,” those whom the U.S. government has not charged with a crime but is unwilling to release. On June 10, the Supreme Court declined to hear an appeal in his case, the latest setback in al-Alwi’s long effort to obtain due process rights. Even though the court wouldn’t take al-Alwi up, Justice Stephen G. Breyer wrote that it would only be a matter of time before the court had to grapple with the forever prisoners and the scope of the government’s power to hold them. Six years ago, I predicted that Knightscope robots (Daleks) might replace police officers and it appears, that I was right.
According to CBS Los Angeles, the Huntington Park Police Department is using a Knightscope K5 robot to patrol public areas like parks and city buildings. Continue reading “Spying Police Robots (Daleks) Coming To A City Near You”
During a launch from Mount Borah in Australia, a paraglider pilot was caught off guard when a dirt devil swept him off his feet.
The pilot, who was being filmed by his wife, was visiting the site from another country. In the video, the screams of his wife can be heard as he is lifted off the ground. Continue reading “Dirt Devil Ejects Paraglider Pilot”
Three beagles successfully showed they are capable of identifying lung cancer by scent, a first step in identifying specific biomarkers for the disease – and researchers say the dogs’ abilities may lead to the development of a safe, effective, and inexpensive means for mass cancer screening.
After eight weeks of training, the beagles – chosen for their superior olfactory receptor genes – were able to distinguish between blood serum samples taken from patients with malignant lung cancer and healthy controls with 97% accuracy. The double-blind study is published in the July edition of The Journal of the American Osteopathic Association. Israel has controlled East Jerusalem and the walled Old City since the 1967 war in which it also occupied the adjacent West Bank. It has effectively treated them as annexed territory ever since.
To consolidate its grip on the Old City, it has demolished homes and expelled Palestinian residents, empowered Jewish settlers, and imposed sweeping restrictions that make it virtually impossible for most Palestinians to pray at the Al-Aqsa Mosque, one of the holiest sites in Islam. In a key seismic zone approximately 40 miles east of downtown Los Angeles, there have been more than 1,000 earthquakes since May 25th. Needless to say, it would be quite alarming for the entire state of California to experience more than 1,000 significant earthquakes in just 3 weeks, but in this case we are talking about an area that is “less than a square mile” in size. And what makes this even more concerning is that all of these earthquakes are happening in a location that is very close to the San Andreas Fault. Could it be possible that the San Andreas Fault is about to wake up in a major way? I don’t know about you, but if I was living in southern California right now I would find this sort of news to be extremely unsettling… Continue reading “1,000 Earthquakes In 3 Weeks? Oh Yeah, Those Living Near The San Andreas Fault Definitely Have Reason To Be Concerned”
Ed.’s note: Events are becoming more horrifying by the day. US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has absolutely no credibility. As the US steps up its campaign against Iran and if 120,000 US soldiers are sent to “protect Americans”, they will be deployed for Israel. What a team: John Bolton and Mike Pompeo.
We couldn’t agree more with sensible Jews in Israel considering Pompeo is a rabid Christian-Zio: Continue reading “Did Israel Annex America?”
U.S. Special Envoy for Monitoring and Combating Anti-Semitism Elan Carr said on Wednesday that Jewish institutions, including synagogues, should have armed security.
“We live in a time of danger,” said Carr told Jerusalem Post editor-in-chief Yaakov Katz in an interview at the Global Coalition 4 Israel Conference. “Any synagogue, every JCC should have guards. God willing, may they never be needed, but they should be there.” Continue reading “Carr calls for armed guards at synagogues, other Jewish institutions”

Oregon’s Democratic governor, Kate Brown, has dispatched state troopers to find missing Republican senators and bring them back to Salem to legislate.
All 11 Republican senators are in hiding, at least some of them out of state, in order to prevent the Senate from having the quorum it needs to operate. They can’t abide the Democrat-backed carbon cap and spend bill that is up for a Senate vote today. Continue reading “Oregon governor sends police to find missing Republicans, bring them to Capitol”
Can’t stop checking your phone, even when you’re not expecting any important messages? Blame your brain.
A new study by researchers at UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business has found that information acts on the brain’s dopamine-producing reward system in the same way as money or food. Continue reading “Your Brain Reacts To Information Same As Money Or Drugs”
The Economic Collapse – by Michael Snyder
The U.S. trucking industry has not experienced a downturn of this magnitude since the last financial crisis, and this is one of the clearest signs yet that the U.S. economy is steamrolling into a severe economic downturn. When economic activity is increasing, the trucking industry sees rising demand for their services and freight rates tend to go up. That is precisely what we witnessed in 2018, and truckers were hoping for more of the same in 2019. But when economic activity is on the decline, the trucking industry sees decreasing demand for their services and freight rates tend to go down. Unfortunately, the numbers that the U.S. trucking industry is reporting right now are absolutely abysmal. Freight rates have now fallen for six months in a row on a year-over-year basis, and according to Business Insider during the month of May loads on the spot market fell “by a chilling 62.6%” compared to last year… Continue reading “They Are Calling This A “Bloodbath” For The $800 Billion Trucking Industry As U.S. Economic Activity Dramatically Declines”
Three more U.S. senators received a classified Pentagon briefing on Wednesday about a series of reported encounters by the Navy with unidentified aircraft, according to congressional and military officials — part of a growing number of requests from members of key oversight committees.
One of them was Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.), the vice chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, whose office confirmed the briefing to POLITICO. Continue reading “Senators get classified briefing on UFO sightings”

President Donald Trump told reporters Thursday that Iran may not have intentionally downed an unmanned U.S. surveillance drone. He said the public will “find out” about whether the U.S. intends to retaliate with a military strike.
“I find it hard to believe it was intentional,” Trump said during a White House meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Continue reading “Trump says Iranian downing of US drone may have been unintentional”

WASHINGTON— The Environmental Protection Agency announced so-called “emergency” approvals today to spray sulfoxaflor — an insecticide it considers “very highly toxic” to bees — on nearly 14 million acres of crops known to attract bees.
The approval includes 2019 crops of cotton and sorghum in Alabama, Arkansas, California, Georgia, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia. Ten of the 11 states have been granted the approvals for at least four consecutive years for the same “emergency.” Five have been given approvals for at least six consecutive years.
