An important bill died in the legislature this year, “An Act Prohibiting Female Genital Mutilation.” Senate Bill 190 would have made it a Class D felony, punishable by up to five years in prison, to perform female genital mutilation on a person under 18.
FGM is outlawed federally, and 26 other states in the United States also ban it. Connecticut needs to join them to put this terrible practice on the radar of schools, clinics, courts and police. LONDON (Reuters) – Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said on Monday the attackers who killed 25 people at a military parade had been paid by Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, and that Iran would “severely punish” those behind the bloodshed.

Within two weeks Russia will deliver to Damascus an S-300 air defense system, previously suspended on a request by Israel. It comes as part of response to the downing of a Russian Il-20 plane amid an Israeli air raid on Syria.
Moscow accused Tel Aviv of failing to inform Russia about its impending attack on targets in Syria, which resulted in a downing of the Russian electronic warfare aircraft by Syrian return fire. Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the defense ministry to take several measures in response to the incident, the ministry said in a statement on Monday. Dallas Officer Amber Guyger, who is facing a manslaughter charge after fatally shooting 26-year-old Botham Jean in his Cedars apartment Sept. 6, was fired Monday.

UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) – He has chaired board meetings, cabinet meetings and starred in a reality television show, but on Wednesday U.S. President Donald Trump will wield the gavel in the United Nations Security Council to denounce Iran for what his administration sees as its malign regional behavior.

A class-action lawsuit has been filed in Illinois against fast food restaurant chain Wendy’s accusing the company of breaking state laws in regards to the way it stores and handles employee fingerprints.

When Donald Trump selected mainstream conservative Brett Kavanaugh as his Supreme Court nominee, those truly anxious to “drain the swamp” were disappointed once again. Even CNBC acknowledged that he was an “establishment favorite.” Kavanaugh has never been anyone’s kind of maverick. He has long been tied to former President George W. Bush.
The most troubling thing about Kavanaugh, to those of us who have bothered to investigate such things, is Kavanaugh’s role in covering up the death of Clinton White House counsel Vince Foster. SELMA, AL (WSFA) – Investigators now believe the officer who was shot was followed by four suspects starting from Selmont all the way to Selma where it ended at the intersection of Broad Street and Furniss Avenue.
“This demonstrates the worst fear,” said Selma Police Chief Spencer Collier.
Collier feared this might happen after weeks of dealing with his officers being shot at. No one had been hit.. until now.
