Psychology professor Jordan Peterson’s stated plan to build a website aimed at reducing enrolment in university classes he calls “indoctrination cults” has drawn the ire of his University of Toronto colleagues, who say it will make them the target of harassment.

“As a science professor, I’m not specifically targeted, but I still believe this website is morally wrong,” U of T physics professor A.W. Peet told As It Happens host Carol Off. “A number of students and faculty members who I’m in correspondence with are concerned about his plans.”   Continue reading “U of T profs alarmed by Jordan Peterson’s plan to target classes he calls ‘indoctrination cults’”

The American Dream – by Michael Snyder

Are the days of the free and open Internet numbered?  The Internet is certainly used for all sorts of horrible things, but it has also allowed ordinary people to communicate on a mass scale that would have been unimaginable decades ago.  In the old days, if you wanted to reach large audiences of people with your information you always had to go through corporate gatekeepers.  But today, anyone with an Internet connection can literally broadcast whatever they want to say to the whole world.  Personally, my wife and I have always been amazed at how many people we are able to touch all over the planet from our little home in the mountains.  Over the past seven years our websites have been viewed more than 100 million times, and we receive emails about our work from people all over the globe.   Continue reading “The Internet Crackdown Begins: U.S. Senator Al Franken Wants Google, Facebook And Twitter To Censor Political Speech”

Freedom Outpost – by Tim Brown

On Saturday, a man successfully evaded security at Miami International Airport and slipped onto a baggage carousel and rode it out to the tarmac where he was able to run until baggage handlers and other airport staff tackled him and he was arrested.

The man was talking on a cell phone when he slipped past the counter and dove onto the baggage carousel.

Security cameras did what apparently security couldn’t do and caught the man.  Take a look at this report from the Miami Herald.   Continue reading “Test Run For Jihad? Man Sneaks Past Security At Miami International Airport – Makes It To Tarmac”

“If the money’s there for America to fight endless wars for Israel, you’d think the money would be there to take care of their own?”

“You cannot thank veterans for your freedom because they have actively done nothing more than endanger its very existence. In fact, American military power abroad (and increasingly, at home) has made civilians tremendously more unsafe now than they have ever been. The threat not only emerges from aggrieved victims of American brutality abroad but a government desperate in bad times to ensure that not one dollar of military expenditures is reduced. … Veterans don’t need gratitude but a self-realization on their part that the machine they worked for was never an engine for liberty but a device whose single purpose was aggrandizement of American political power at home and abroad. And that political hammer always extinguishes liberty and never expands it.”

The pastor of Sutherland Springs First Baptist Church in Texas announced Thursday that the building will be demolished.

Pastor Frank Pomeroy, who lost his 14-year-old daughter and half of his church family in the massacre, told the Southern Baptist Convention that the building reminded people too much of the shooting. The site of the church may serve as a memorial, but for now the congregation of First Baptist will hold their services elsewhere. The best way to move forward, Pomeroy said, is to begin anew.   Continue reading “Sutherland Springs Church Will Be Demolished”

A cloud of radioactive pollution over Europe in recent weeks indicates that an accident has happened in a nuclear facility in Russia or Kazakhstan in the last week of September, French nuclear safety institute IRSN said on Thursday.

The IRSN ruled out an accident in a nuclear reactor, saying it was likely to be in a nuclear fuel treatment site or centre for radioactive medicine. There has been no impact on human health or the environment in Europe, the IRSN said.

Miami, Fla.—Today Florida’s Third District Court of Appeal dealt a major blow to property rights when it upheld the Village of Miami Shores’ ban on front-yard vegetable gardens. This means homeowners Hermine Ricketts and Tom Carroll—and others like them—are still banned from growing a front yard garden to provide food for themselves. Hermine and Tom are represented by the Institute for Justice (IJ), which first challenged the ban in November 2013.   Continue reading “Florida Appeals Court Upholds Ban on Front-Yard Vegetable Gardens”

President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club has received permission to hire 70 foreign workers to fill out its staff during its upcoming busy season, after managers attested there aren’t enough Americans qualified and willing to do the work.

The president’s hiring of foreign workers at the Florida resort over several years was criticized by his opponents during the 2016 campaign after he slammed companies for moving jobs out of the U.S. and others for hiring immigrants in the country illegally.   Continue reading “Trump’s Mar-a-Lago gets approval to hire 70 foreign workers”
