Two lowlifes broke into a home in Pittsburgh that just had a new security system installed which included video cameras. Some of the crime, including the break-in, was caught on the camera.   Continue reading “This Is Why We Recommend Carrying Even While Inside Your Own Home”

The extreme militarization of American police forces has been brought to public attention by the tactics employed against Occupy protesters, which often appear more appropriate to counter-terrorism operations than to the control of non-violent protest. According to investigative journalist Max Blumenthal, however, the proper term for this ruthless suppression of dissent should be “Israelification.”   Continue reading “Flashback – Report: Israeli model underlies militarization of U.S. police”

DALLAS, Texas — Room 1060 at the Earl Cabell Federal Building in downtown Dallas was the most compassionate place on earth, Monday, August 11, for minors who were in the various stages of the legal process for “Hearings on Removal Procedures” because they entered the United States through Texas illegally. This was the big rescheduled immigration court date, the result of the August 4 “no-show Monday.”   Continue reading “Illegal Minors Have A Field Day in Dallas Immigration Court”

Pinal County, AZ Sheriff Paul Babeu said that when his deputies turn individuals that they suspect are in the county illegal over to ICE, the agency doesn’t verify that the suspect is in the country legally.

“The troubling part of this is that when we do call ICE, what they say is ‘well, the person has been here five years,’ nothing confirming or finding out or verifying this, ‘treat them as any other citizen,’ and then we release them” he said on Wednesday’s “On the Record” on the Fox News Channel.    Continue reading “AZ Sheriff: ICE Doesn’t Verify the Legal Status of People Turned Over to Them”

A severe drought affecting Brazil’s biggest city has led to a “water war” that could cause the water supply to collapse in parts of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.

Authorities in São Paulo have been battling a water crisis for months as reservoirs run dry for lack of rainfall.

Earlier this month, the state energy company in São Paulo (Cesp) asked the national operator of the electric system (ONS) to reduce the water flow at the Jaguari hydro-electric dam on the Rio Paraíba do Sul from 40,000 litres per second to 10,000 litres per second.

CONAKRY (Reuters) – Staff with the World Health Organisation battling an Ebola outbreak in West Africa see evidence the numbers of reported cases and deaths vastly underestimates the scale of the outbreak, the U.N. agency said on its website on Thursday.

The death toll from the world’s worst outbreak of Ebola stood on Wednesday at 1,069 from 1,975 confirmed, probable and suspected cases, the agency said. The majority were in Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia, while four people have died in Nigeria.   Continue reading “Evidence suggests Ebola toll vastly underestimated: WHO”

If Ferguson, Missouri, looks like a war zone, that may be because its police force is armed to the teeth with military equipment. In photographs from this week’s protests, officers can be seen toting assault rifles, wearing gas masks and body armour loaded with extra ammunition magazines, and riding around in mine-resistant armoured personnel carriers.

The militarisation of US police departments has escalated exponentially in the years since 9/11, with many local forces increasingly resembling US troops fighting overseas. Continue reading “US police armed with 93,763 new machine guns”

Police patrol cars are usually Fords or Chryslers, not Maseratis.

So when a patrolman in Braintree, Massachusetts, spotted a Maserati resembling a police cruiser over the weekend, he pulled it over.
