EDISON  — Four Edison police officers have been indicted on charges that they conspired to retaliate against an officer from another department because he arrested one of the Edison officer’s relatives for drunken driving.

The indictment recently handed up by a Middlesex County grand jury alleges that in early 2012, the four Edison officers improperly accessed information about a North Brunswick officer and performed surveillance on him and his travel habits. But prosecutors say no actual retaliation occurred.   Continue reading “Indictment: 4 N.J. cops allegedly planned retaliation”

Imagine a huge multinational corporation making products that your town considers so unhealthy they decided not to let the company open up shop. Imagine only 59 people in your town (4%) actually wanting the company to come in, demolish local landmarks, and open their doors. Now imagine that company taking your community to court, to sue for the right to sell their unhealthy products right across from an elementary school, in spite of your town almost unanimously opposing it.

That is exactly what has happened in the Australian town of Tecoma.   Continue reading “McDonald’s Is Suing Town That Rejects Their Restaurant”

It is not merely hyperbole when it is said the US created terrorist organizations like Al Qaeda or the so-called “Islamic State.” It is documented fact. The current conflict in the Middle East may appear to be a chaotic conflagration beyond the control of the United States and its many eager allies, but in reality it is the intentional, engineered creation of regional fronts in a war against Iran and its powerful arc of influence.

It is not Western policy that indirectly spurs the creation and perpetuation of terrorist organizations, but in fact, direct, intentional, unmistakable support.   Continue reading “US War on Iran Takes Bizarre Turn”

Some believe that Americans are taxed too much, regulated too much, over-fined and over-licensed, and now, the U.S. Forest Service is feeding into those concerns with a proposed new rule that would impose further media coverage restrictions on large swaths of lands owned by the public.

According to the proposal, which, as required by law, was posted in the Federal Register Sept. 4 reporters would be required to pay for a permit and get Forest Service permission before they would be allowed to shoot photos or videos in federal wilderness areas.   Continue reading “US Forest Service rules eliminate First Amendment rights in federal wilderness areas”

You have to wonder what makes a genetic engineer’s mind tick. Victor Frankenstein claimed to be creating his monster for the betterment of humankind, but it seems more likely that he did so out of arrogance or a desire to play God. When you read about the 7 genetically engineered animals that have been created in the last few decades, you might ask yourself – exactly what motivates the biotech industry? If they aren’t letting loose GMO mosquitoes and moths, or creating suicide seeds – here’s what they do:   Continue reading “Biotech’s Bizarre World: 7 Genetically Modified Animals”

A growing exodus of young Israelis to Berlin has not only shocked Israel’s far right leadership but has highlighted the growing disillusionment with Zionism among Israel’s younger generation.

As Israeli commentators noted, the trend would encourage the late Israeli leader, Yitzhak Rabin to turn in his grave. He once described those who fled Israel as a “cascade of wimps” and a “fallout of cowards.” Ravit Hecht, a columnist with Israel’s oldest daily newspaper, Ha’aretz, has blamed ultranationalists for the exodus, and there may well be substance to her claim. “Berlin is a lovely city, but it is sucking away all the forces that we desperately need here, especially now,” she wrote. Of course, it’s not Berlin that’s doing the sucking, but Israel, in a different sense of the word.   Continue reading “Tens of Thousands of Jews Leaving Israel for Germany”

WASHINGTON — The United States is in a perpetual state of national emergency.

Thirty separate emergencies, in fact.

An emergency declared by President Jimmy Carter on the 10th day of the Iranian hostage crisis in 1979 remains in effect almost 35 years later.

A post-9/11 state of national emergency declared by President George W. Bush — and renewed six times by President Obama — forms the legal basis for much of the war on terror.   Continue reading “Special report: America’s perpetual state of emergency”
