The Hill – by Tim Devaney

House Democrats will introduce legislation this week that would block handguns from firing any sort of ammunition that can penetrate body armor worn by police officers.

The Modernize Law Enforcement Protection Act is expected to be introduced later this week by Rep. Jackie Speier (D-Calif.).   Continue reading “Handgun owners face new bullet ban bill”

Hot Air – by Noah Rothman

Earlier this month, General David Petraeus pled guilty to a misdemeanor charge related to his decision to pass on classified secrets to a biographer who also happened to be his mistress. The Justice Department passed on recommending jail time for the former CIA director and instead asked that the architect of the Iraq Surge simply pay a $40,000 fine.

The appearance of favoritism offered to the American general has created more problems for the administration than it resolved.   Continue reading “Despite criminal charge, David Petraeus emerges as key White House advisor on Iraq”

Barak-8iHLS – by Arie Egozi

The Barak-8 is one of the most advanced air defense systems in the world today. A source in the program told i-HLS the system approaches full operational status.

The joint Israeli-Indian project began in 2006. India needed a defense system for its navy ships and Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) offered the Barak-8. The project is led by the Israeli Ministry of Defense (IMoD) with IAI as the prime contractor and another Israeli company, Rafael, as a subcontractor.   Continue reading “Barak-8 missile on the way to full operability”

Political Pistachio – by Douglas V. Gibbs

Social issues are local issues.  From a constitutional point of view, social issues are none of the federal government’s business.  The Republican Party is the party of social issues.  Was it not slavery, a social issue, that spurned the creation of the Grand Ol’ Party?

The topic of the homosexual agenda has a lot to do with the Constitution. Marriage is a State issue, and federal interference is unconstitutional. My opinion has always been “why is government involved in marriage in the first place?” The two times marriage licenses (or should we call them “just in case there’s a divorce” licenses) appeared, during reconstruction after the American Civil War, and during the 1930s under FDR, they emerged so that the government could control marriage, and tax marriage.   Continue reading “The Rule of Law and the Gay Agenda”

GTY 465954346 A POL GOV USA DCUSA Today – by Gregory Korte

WASHINGTON — The White House is removing a federal regulation that subjects its Office of Administration to the Freedom of Information Act, making official a policy under Presidents Bush and Obama to reject requests for records to that office.

The White House said the cleanup of FOIA regulations is consistent with court rulings that hold that the office is not subject to the transparency law. The office handles, among other things, White House record-keeping duties like the archiving of e-mails.   Continue reading “White House office to delete its FOIA regulations”

Jack Bernstein

I’m unable to find even a birth date, or date of death for Jack Bernstein other than “some years” after he wrote The Life of an American Jew…. I found one forum comment that he had been shot, but it had no verifying reference.

The immortal words uttered by Prince Hamlet as he contemplates death and suicide, applies for an entire society. The enormous gravity that permeates William Shakespeare’s tragic hero represents the same fate confronting the normal mortals, who make up the ranks of Americans. The rapid decline in intelligence and moral character has approached epidemic levels. The ROT which has seeped into the popular culture has become a metamorphosis Reign of Terror. The transformers from a heritage of principle, courage and honor have sunk to a level of Slouching Towards Gomorrah. Such a fate was feared by our Founding Fathers.   Continue reading ““To Be or Not To Be” Part of the Establishment”

Herbal Legacy – by Herman Maiden

Pau d’arco is cooling, biter, alterative, antibiotic, antifungal, antitumor, antiviral, antineoplastic, digestive, diuretic, fungicidal, antidiabetic, anodyne, analgesic, astringent, parasiticide and hypotensive.  Its constituents are lapachol, a quinone and a recognized antitumor agent found in the wood and barely in the bark. According to H. Wagner, head of the Institute of Pharmaceutical Biology at the University of Munich in Germany, much of the basis for pau d’arco’s reputation is its immune-stimulating properties.  Quinones  are present throughout nature.  They are involved in the transference of hydrogen and electrons.   Continue reading “The Benefits of the Use of Pau D’arco in Herbal Preparations”

On Sunday, the Las Vegas Informer ran an opinion column describing the Second Amendment as “worthless,” suggesting the amendment only continues to be relevant because the Supreme Court breathed life into it in 2008.

The column opens with questions for those “who honestly believe the Second Amendment was written 10 years after the end of the Revolutionary War to give people the right to own and carry guns in our neighborhoods, at public events and in public places.”  The questions are also directed toward “some members of the Supreme Court,” and that is clearly because of their decisions in DC v. Heller (2008) and McDonald v. Chicago (2010). In both cases, the court reaffirmed the individual right to keep and bear arms.   Continue reading “Paper: Supreme Court Breathed Life into ‘Worthless’ 2nd Amendment in 2008”

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Former Arizona U.S. Rep. Gabby Giffords is coming to Connecticut to help promote the latest gun control proposals offered since the Newtown school shootings, but there are questions about whether the legislation is needed given an existing law on the books.

A bill, originally offered by Democratic Gov. Dannel P. Malloy during his re-election battle last year, would require subjects of a restraining or protective order to surrender their firearms and ammunition within 24 hours of being notified of the order. But veteran Republican state Rep. Arthur O’Neil contends that an existing law, enacted 15 years ago after another Connecticut mass shooting, already allows police to immediately seize guns from people who pose a risk to themselves or others.   Continue reading “Gabby Giffords to push for Connecticut gun control bill”

Washington DC – -(Ammoland.com)-  On Sunday, CBS News Sunday Morning aired video of gun control proponents Gabby Giffords and Mark Kelly shooting handguns and rifles, then panned to video of the couple sitting in their Tucson, Arizona, home where Giffords talked about the possibility of running for office again.

The CBS News segment opened with video of Giffords receiving a standing ovation upon returning to Congress to resign her seat after being shot in Tuscon. CBS’s Lee Cowan said “both she and Mark Kelly found themselves at a crossroads” at that point. Their old lives “gone, the future uncertain.”   Continue reading “CBS Spins the Tall Tale – Gabby Giffords, Mark Kelly are ‘Just Regular Gun Owners’”
