LAS VEGAS (AP) — There won’t be a federal trial next month in Las Vegas for rancher Cliven Bundy and 18 other defendants in an armed confrontation with government officers two years ago.
In a written ruling issued following a two-hour hearing in a courtroom crowded with defendants, attorneys, U.S. marshals and audience members, U.S. Magistrate Judge Peggy Leen essentially called a May 2 trial date unrealistic. Hundreds of bottles of Trump Vodka were seized by Israeli police for bearing phony “Kosher for Passover” labels in advance of the upcoming holiday, a police spokesperson said on Wednesday.
Police raided the storage room of “a known alcohol distributor in downtown Haifa” and found hundreds of Trump Vodka bottles with forged Passover-friendly stickers on them, the spokesperson said. Tax forms reveal that the controversial billionaire Koch brothers are throwing money into an effort to stop conservation efforts in the Grand Canyon.
Amid rumors that Charles and David Koch will be withdrawing their presence at the Republican National Convention, it has been revealed the billionaires have been funneling money into an Arizona-based group fighting a plan to ban uranium mining around the Grand Canyon, which would also protect 1.7 million acres of land.

PEEBLES, Ohio — A “murderer or murderers” massacred eight members of a Pike County family in a series of targeted, “execution-style” killings, Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine said Friday.
And, as tips poured in throughout the day, DeWine and Pike County Sheriff Charles Reader cautioned it may take a while to find the killer or killers, refuting reports that a “person of interest” was in custody. Federal law enforcement investigators are searching in at least three states for more than 500 pounds of explosives stolen from a CSX train, CBS News has learned.
CBS News Justice Department and Homeland Security correspondent Jeff Pegues reported a law enforcement source says the amount stolen has authorities concerned that the explosives could fall into the wrong hands.

There are 55.3 million Latinos in America, nearly triple the 1980 population, and those under 18 years old are the largest group, a demographic fact likely to influence the future of the country, according to Census figures.
A new analysis from the Pew Research Center, found that the vast majority are of “Mexican origin,” and most of the younger Latinos were born in the United States to immigrants. Russian forces in Syria have fired at least twice on Israeli military aircraft, Israel’s top-selling newspaper says.
The Yedioth Ahronoth daily on Friday gave no dates or locations for the incidents nor any indication Israeli planes were hit.

Somebody screwed up at the United States Army Garrison (USAG) in Hohenfels, Germany the other day because I am relatively sure that an airdropped Humvee is not supposed to move towards the ground quite that quickly. Someone in the 173rd Airborne Brigade probably has some explaining to do.

The former head of the FDA, Margaret Hamburg, used the federal agency to run a massive conspiracy of racketeering and fraud in order to generate millions of dollars in drug company profits for her husband’s hedge fund firm, alleges a damning lawsuit filed in the United States District Court for the District of Columbia.
The lawsuit alleges that while acting as FDA commissioner, Margaret Hamburg engaged in a wide-ranging conspiracy to approve an extremely dangerous drug known to cause severe (and even deadly) side effects, in order to financially benefit her husband’s hedge fund which held very large financial positions in Johnson & Johnson, makers of the drug. “Defendants, each and every one of them, operated a criminal conspiracy at least between the years 2009 to 2015 to fraudulently suppress warnings about the devastating effects of Levaquin,” says the complaint. Back in late 19th century, a Bronx-based drug manufacturer Eugene Schieffelin decided he wanted to introduce every avian species in the Bard’s literature to the United States. To star, he released 60 European starlings, which were imported from England, into New York City’s Central Park in 1890. The following year, he added another 40 to the wild. Recognizing the possibility of a contested convention in Cleveland this summer, Republicans are considering an electronic system to capture votes on what could be a contentious set of procedural motions leading up to nominating a presidential candidate.
The Republican National Committee agreed Thursday not to change the rules of the convention at this point, but is exploring changes to the way that delegate votes are recorded. Pike County, Ohio – Authorities are investigating “multiple fatalities” in Pike County, Ohio, the Ohio Attorney General’s Office said Friday morning.
A local pastor told WCPO that two adults and five children were shot to death.
