Tech Crunch – by Devin Coldewey

How many times have you heard some urban legend, chain letter or misleading bit of news repeated and immediately found a thorough, fact-based debunking on Snopes? Like every damn day for the last 20 years or so, right? Snopes was there for you when you were looking up fake news and cryptids — but it’s in trouble, and asking you to return the favor.

The venerable fact-checking site is in the middle of an ownership dispute, and it’s looking for donations to keep the lights on in the meantime. The site’s blog describes the situation thus:   Continue reading “Snopes seeks crowdfunding in ownership battle”

Truth Revolt – by Trey Sanchez

Retired United States Army Colonel Lawrence Wilerson and the former chief of staff to Colin Powell when he was secretary of state told MSNBC’s Joy Reid on Sunday that Jews pose the biggest threat to Christians in the Middle East.

Wilkerson criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government for provoking danger in the region.

“The pressure is building incrementally,” Wilkerson said. “Bibi Netanyahu and his government have been moving to make sure that the pressure builds — the tension builds. The ultimate goal with regard to the mosque is to drive the Palestinians and Arabs in general out completely.”   Continue reading “Fmr Colin Powell Aide on MSNBC: Biggest Threat to Christians in Mid East — Jews”

Chicago Tribune – by Elyssa Cherney and Elvia Malagon

At least six people were killed and 35 others were wounded in weekend violence in Chicago as the number of homicides continues to outpace last year.

There have been at least 391 homicides this year, four more than last year when violence reached levels not seen in two decades, according to data kept by the Tribune.

The number of people shot, however, is down from last year: 2,112 compared to 2,337.  Continue reading “Nearing 400, homicides in Chicago continue to outpace last year”

A women’s march in Fairfax, Va., sought to call out the National Rifle Association for “advocating violence” in a recent online video. A huge part of the faux feminists’ message was that guns are bad. Whether the armed guards they hired to accompany them for the event agree, we don’t really know.

A Facebook post announcing last week’s march declared: “Recent actions of the NRA demonstrate not only a disregard for the lives of black and brown people in America, but appear to be a direct endorsement of violence against women, our families and our communities for exercising our constitutional right to protest.”   Continue reading “Women hire armed guards for march against guns”

True Activist – by Amelia Kinney

Although it’s impossible to be certain, it is estimated that between 180,000 and 250,000 people in the United States are living off-grid, disconnected from public utilities and using only self-reliant systems. One highly controversial off-gridder in Cape Coral, Florida, Robin Speronis, a 54-year-old widow, has gained national attention for fighting her local government to stay off-grid.

Speronis’s off-grid story, as reported by Bloomberg, began in 2010 when her husband died of a degenerative neurological condition at age 84. Caring for him until his death left Speronis low on funds and in mortgage default. Despite zero prior experience outdoors or camping, Speronis moved into an RV on a wooded rental property.   Continue reading “This 54-Year-Old Woman Was Kicked Out Of Her House For Living Off-Grid”

Anti-Media Anti-Media – by James Holbrooks

Last Wednesday, it was reported that Donald Trump was moving to nominate Raytheon lobbyist Mark Esper for secretary of the Army. Raytheon is one of the “big five” defense contractors, and the president’s decision comes at a time when concerns are being raised over the idea of defense industry executives being placed in senior positions at the Pentagon.

Esper, who holds a master’s degree from Harvard and a doctorate from George Washington University, has been Raytheon’s vice president of government relations since 2010. Before that, he held a slew of positions in both the public and private sectors. His resume is extensive, but The Hill managed to succinctly package the high points:   Continue reading “Fill the Swamp: Trump to Put Military Industrial Complex Lobbyist in Charge of the Army”

Activist Post – by Vin Armani

In this video, Vin Armani explains why you’ve been tricked into supporting net neutrality. Some big corporations don’t want a free market. They want a protected market with barriers. Lawmakers seem hungry to regulate the Internet. It’s a dangerous combination that infects most industries. Don’t let it happen to the Internet.

There’s this term in the processed food industry for when something is quantifiably at its most delicious, but also–critically–still unsatisfying enough that you always crave more. It’s called the bliss point, and it’s what ensures that you always want another sip of that soft drink, or the crunch of that potato chip. It’s about maximizing the bliss of consumption so that you consume more.

Jordan’s military released security camera footage Monday of a shooting in which a Jordanian soldier killed three U.S. military trainers at an air base in the kingdom.

The video had previously been shown to the families of the U.S. Army Green Berets by U.S. law enforcement but had not been made public until Monday.

The soldiers were killed on November 4, when their convoy came under fire at the entrance to the al-Jafr base in southern Jordan.   Continue reading “Jordan releases footage of shooting of 3 U.S. troops”

Washington, D.C.’s reflecting pool will run red with Faygo soda when Insane Clown Posse lead their “Juggalo” fans in a march on the capitol next year. The clown-faced, horror-rap duo’s Violent J made the announcement this past weekend at the 17th annual Gathering of the Juggalos. The march is part of the duo’s protesting of the FBI’s decision to list Juggalos as gang members.

“In 2017, the weekend of September 17th, we need you,” the rapper told an audience at what The Detroit News described as a “seminar discussion” at the Gathering of the Juggalos. “We’re gonna do a [expletive] march on Washington. They call the Juggalo World a movement, right? Well, let’s move!”   Continue reading “Insane Clown Posse Plan D.C. March to Protest FBI”

But a new method to increase wages and reduce poverty is gaining traction in the U.S.

She’s a transgender woman and an experienced journalist who sings in a metal band in her spare time.

He has sponsored some of the most socially conservative legislation in Virginia in the past 25 years, including a measure this year that would have restricted the bathrooms transgender people can use.

Democrat Danica Roem is challenging Republican Bob Marshall for his northern Virginia seat in the state House of Delegates. With such stark differences between the candidates, the race is expected to draw in big money and is seen by some as a referendum on rights for gay and transgender people.

PHOENIX — If the new language in Arizona’s driver’s license manual sounds like something written by Black Lives Matter, there’s a good reason for it.

The provisions tell motorists what to do if they’re pulled over by a police officer. They also provide specific warnings about what not to do, like reaching around in the vehicle or getting out.

The goal is pretty simple, said state Rep. Reginald Bolding, a Laveen Democrat who helped write the section.

Free Thought Project – by Matt Agorist

Spindale, NC — Scores of former slaves have come forward to expose the Word of Faith Fellowship congregation as a hub for modern slavery in the United States in which hundreds have been victims, according to a scathing report from the Associated Press. To date, the church leaders have yet to be held accountable.

According to the investigation, the Word of Faith Fellowship set up two churches in Brazil and used it as a means of siphoning young laborers to the United States to use them for forced labor.   Continue reading “‘They Kept Us As Slaves’ – Mega Church Exposed Running Massive Slavery Ring in North Carolina”
