A recent study finds a dramatic shift in where Americans are spending their final moments. New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said there is no need for an independent investigation into his policy on nursing homes that critics say led to thousands of deaths during the coronavirus pandemic.

Cuomo, a Democrat, told reporters during a teleconference on Monday that Democrats and Republicans will never agree on the examination of his now-reversed March 25 directive that prohibited nursing homes from turning away recovering coronavirus patients. Syracuse, N.Y. — Juan Rivera and Payton Dunn have begun their college careers at Syracuse University by spending their first two weeks in quarantine.

They spend 23 hours a day inside. There is no air conditioning. They are allowed to interact with a group of only 15 to 20 people. With their one hour of time outdoors, they are checked in and out of the dorm and given strict instructions on the path they’re allowed to walk. Food is delivered to a common room each day in brown paper bags and delivery options are forbidden. South Dakota Sioux tribes are setting up unofficial checkpoints to block bikers from getting to the Sturgis motorcycle rally.

BALTIMORE (AP) — Baltimore firefighters say an explosion leveled several homes in the city on Monday, killing one person and critically injuring others.
