Richard Recine’s 36-year career as a police officer came crashing down this week after he was caught on camera saying police do not have to follow the Constitution because President Barack Obama doesn’t either.

On Thursday, Recine — who had retired from the Franklin police force in 2006 and was working part time here as a special police officer — submitted his resignation.

“I don’t want to give a black eye to law enforcement,” Recine, 59, said Thursday in an exclusive interview with MyCentralJersey.com. “People are saying some really nasty stuff about cops. I don’t want all officers painted with the same brush.”   Continue reading “N.J. cop in Obama rant speaks out and resigns”

Millions of cubic meters of water, sand and chemicals, which were released into the waterways of British Columbia, Canada, from a breached mine tailings pond have led to a total water ban for residents in the area of the incident.

Some 10 million cubic meters of water and 4.5 million cubic meters of fine sand from the tailings pond of the Mount Polley copper and gold mine spilled over into lakes and creeks in the area on Monday, according to a statement by the British Columbia’s Environment Minister Bill Bennett, released the following day.    Continue reading “‘Unbelievable devastation’: Massive mining waste spill causes water ban in Canada”

Stop Nestle Water

Fryeburg is a small town in Maine – that has quickly become ground zero in Maine’s looming water wars.

After Nestle built a nearby bottling plant, Nestle (in this cause in the guise of Poland Springs water) wanted to drill a new well in nearby Denmark, ME, and pipe water to a water-loading station in a Fryeburg residential area.

At first the town planning commission said yes, then reversed themselves due to impacts on the town (noise, traffic, pollution, etc).   Continue reading “Fryeburg Maine Water Wars”

From Wednesday’s press conference:

As is true on a whole range of issues — and I’ve said this in the past — many times we will work with countries even though they’re not perfect on every issue.   Continue reading “Obama Accuses United States of Human Rights Violations”
