As 3-D printed guns have evolved over the past 18 months from a science-fictional experiment into a subculture, they’ve faced a fundamental limitation: Cheap plastic isn’t the best material to contain an explosive blast. Now an amateur gunsmith has instead found a way to transfer that stress to a component that’s actually made of metal—the ammunition.

Michael Crumling, a 25-year-old machinist from York, Pennsylvania, has developed a round designed specifically to be fired from 3-D printed guns. His ammunition uses a thicker steel shell with a lead bullet inserted an inch inside, deep enough that the shell can contain the explosion of the round’s gunpowder instead of transferring that force to the plastic body or barrel of the gun. Crumling says that allows a home-printed firearm made from even the cheapest materials to be fired again and again without cracking or deformation. And while his design isn’t easily replicated because the rounds must be individually machined for now, it may represent another step towards durable, practical, printed guns—even semi-automatic ones.   Continue reading “The Bullet That Could Make 3-D Printed Guns Practical Deadly Weapons”

99 Healthy Meals and Snacks for People Who Cannot CookThe Organic Prepper

The most common excuses I hear when people tell my why they can’t eat healthy, non-GMO food is that they “can’t” cook or that they “don’t have time” to cook.

It’s a sad disservice that our schools have decided that home economics class is no longer necessary. Whether you are male or female, the ability to put together a nourishing, tasty meal on a budget can’t be overrated. We’ve all got to eat, right?  My kids have been cooking since they were 9 years old.  (Uh-oh, someone call the child abuse hotline! She’s making her children slave over a hot stove!)   Continue reading “99 Healthy Meals and Snacks for People Who Can’t Cook”

There is a feeling in the country that things are changing for the worse; the government is deep in debt, politicians are just looking out for themselves, and society as a whole is beginning to fray. For a variety of reasons it appears that the good old days are winding down and harder times are coming. A lot of folks look at our high-tech lifestyles and realize that if critical functions were removed they would be utterly helpless to fend for themselves. Living without the internet seems unimaginable to many; just think if they lost electricity, or grocery stores, or running water…

As the bad news continues to come in there are a lot of folks preparing for a life without some or all of our modern conveniences. There’s a variety of books, blogs, and TV shows discussing how this might be possible. Of course there are many unknowns when planning for disaster, such as what happens, how long it lasts, your living situation, location, and financial circumstances. One thing that you will always need, no matter what happens, is access to clean water. Even a disaster that only lasts for a few days could become deadly if it leaves you without water.   Continue reading “Top of the List”

“The Norwegian people have very little experience dealing with minorities… So we have a BIG “job to do” in bringing minorities to them, according to Ervin Kohn.

Kohn is the President of The Jewish Community in Oslo and the Deputy Director at the Norwegian Center Against Racism.

The question is, since when did Norwegians decide they needed an organization to solve the “problem” of racism in their country? After all, isn’t Norway a homogenous country?   Continue reading “Norway is TOO WHITE… According to the President of Jewish Communities in Oslo…”

Time for a break from the Ebola hoax. Let’s discuss something more pleasant: death.

As time passes, I begin to see things in advance. For example, people will die. People I know and people my friends and family know.

It’s not unexpected. Every human has a tendency to die, eventually, for one reason or another. It may be ill-conceived, but there it is.   Continue reading “Let’s have one Death Day for everybody all at once”

Gun Watch – by Dean Weingarten

Sometimes a victim manages to take a gun from a victim.   Less often, an attacker takes a gun from the victim.   In this case, the attacker took the gun, tried to shoot the victim, but missed.  It started when the aggressor attacked a neighbor.   From thenewsstar.com:

According to the police report, Smith began banging the victim’s head on the concrete saying repeatedly, “I’m going to kill you.” The victim reported losing consciousness as Smith gained his keys.

The second victim grabbed his pistol, and drove across the street to aid his neighbor.  The area is fairly rural, so the houses are not close.     Continue reading “LA: Attacker takes Gun, Shoots, Misses, uses Car”

Eight felony counts, including voting fraud and perjury, should have landed a Democrat senator in jail for 90 days. Instead he received a slap on the wrist – being released from the jail without seeing as much as the inside of a cell.

State senator Roderick Wright turned himself in on late one Friday evening and released 70 minutes later after being processed and booked, according to Nicole Nishida, the spokeswoman for Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.   Continue reading “70 minutes in jail: ‘VIP treatment’ for CA senator convicted on 8 felony counts”

Water in the world’s largest aquifers is being pumped out at greater rates than can be replenished naturally. NASA says this poses a greater threat to US food supplies and global security than previously thought.

Groundwater in the globe’s largest aquifers – the US High Plains, California’s Central Valley, China and India – is being depleted at alarming rates according to new analysis by the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL). The majority of the aquifers lie under the world’s great agricultural regions – and 80 percent of the world’s fresh water usage is in growing crops – meaning their reduction poses a serious threat to the world’s food supply.   Continue reading “NASA: Major droughts threaten food supply, global security”

Remember, remember the Fifth of November,
The Gunpowder Treason and Plot,
I know of no reason
Why the Gunpowder Treason
Should ever be forgot.
Guy Fawkes, Guy Fawkes, ’twas his intent
To blow up the King and Parli’ment.
Three-score barrels of powder below
To prove old England’s overthrow;
By God’s mercy he was catch’d
With a dark lantern and burning match.
Hulloa boys, Hulloa boys, let the bells ring.
Hulloa boys, hulloa boys, God save the King!
