WASHINGTON (AP) — Voters may not know it, but the millions of dollars paying for ads on ballot measures they will consider next month come from large companies and national advocacy groups.

Many of the messages are tailored to defend or expand the business interests of companies such as Coca-Cola, Monsanto and ExxonMobil, yet few have their names in the ads. For example, $6.4 million in ads funded by Coloradans for Better Schools is backed by the Rhode Island-based Twin Rivers Casino in favor of a ballot initiative that would expand gambling to horse tracks. Opponents, calling themselves Don’t Turn Racetracks Into Casinos, are backed by a group of Colorado casinos and are helping fund $5.7 million in ads to defend their turf.   Continue reading “Corporate giants funding state ballot initiatives”

DENVER (AP) — The case of three teenage girls who possibly tried to join Islamic State militants poses vexing questions for U.S. officials about terror groups’ use of social media to recruit people inside the United States.

A Colorado school official said the Denver-area girls — two sisters ages 17 and 15, and a 16-year-old friend — were victims of an online predator who encouraged them to travel overseas and eventually to Syria.   Continue reading “Girls’ journey renews fears of terror recruiting”

Singer, Rihanna openly smokes marijuana. Photo viaSubstance – by Keri Blakinger

What do Sarah Palin, Barack Obama, Justin Bieber, Maya Angelou and well over 100 million Americans all have in common? They’ve all smoked pot. Throughout its history, marijuana has attracted plenty of unexpected users and proponents. And much of the history of greenery is now familiar to us—thanks to History Channel specials, the burgeoning legalization movement and the popularity of anti-pot propaganda films like Reefer Madness. But even if you’re intimately familiar with the plant in all its forms, we’re willing to wager that some of these facts will surprise you.   Continue reading “10 Things You Didn’t Know About the History of Marijuana”

The Ebola crisis is forcing the American healthcare system to consider the previously unthinkable: withholding some medical interventions because they are too dangerous to doctors and nurses and unlikely to help a patient.

U.S. hospitals have over the years come under criticism for undertaking measures that prolong dying rather than improve patients’ quality of life.   Continue reading “Some U.S. hospitals weigh withholding care to Ebola patients”

A woman in Rochester, New York recently exercised her Constitutional right to be a jerk.

Kimberly Edson photographed a man who exercised his own Constitutional right – the right to bear arms.  She placed the photo on a poster in her front yard, “warning” the other parents: “This man carries a loaded gun around your children every day.”

Chilling photo, isn’t it? (Please, note my sarcasm.)   Continue reading “The Right to Bear Arms vs. The Right to be Hysterical About It”

Jim Stone Freelance – August 1, 2014

This is a lengthy article, DO NOT SURFACE READ. The actual treatment for ebola which will virtually eliminate fatalities, as revealed by a doctor who has worked with ebola, is below.

Consider this: The elite would never release a plague without an easy cure, and along with this ebola outbreak an American biowarfare firm has been working in Sierra Leon for the last five years. Google that. Sierra Leon has actually identified them as the perpetrators of this outbreak and kicked them out of the country. There is absolutely no doubt this outbreak was intentionally caused by the U.S. war department.   Continue reading “The treatment for ebola, along with accompanying MOA”

SPRINGFIELD — The Clark County OVI Task Force will operate a No Refusal OVI checkpoint Friday, Oct. 24, in Clark County.

According to the task force, a “No Refusal Checkpoint” means that every car will be checked to ensure that drivers are not impaired. Some of President Obama’s most ardent supporters have accused Republicans of “politicizing” the Ebola crisis. It’s not a terribly serious accusation; a public health emergency requires the response of many government agencies, so how could politics not be involved? There’s nothing wrong with that.

One specific charge, though, deserves an answer. The Ebola scare has made many Americans aware that there is no U.S. surgeon general. (The post is filled by an acting official who is not in line for the job.)   Continue reading “Why is there no surgeon general? Ask Democrats”

Lew Rockwell – by Andrew P. Napolitano

Earlier this week, the federal government’s National Science Foundation, an entity created to encourage the study of science — encouragement that it achieves by awarding grants to scholars and universities — announced that it had awarded a grant to study what people say about themselves and others in social media. The NSF dubbed the project Truthy, a reference to comedian Stephen Colbert’s invention and hilarious use of the word “truthiness.”

The reference to Colbert is cute, and he is a very funny guy, but when the feds get into the business of monitoring speech, it is surely no joke; it is a nightmare. It is part of the Obama administration’s persistent efforts to monitor communication and scrutinize the expressions of opinions it hates and fears.   Continue reading “Chilling Free Speech”

Southern Oregon University administrators told students that they couldn’t freely distribute copies of the Constitution out in the open, on public university property. Officials tried to usher the students indoors, to the preposterously unconstitutional “free speech zone” where political activity is deemed permissible.

The students, who wish to start a Students for Concealed Carry chapter at the university, recorded their interactions with various officials. The footage was published by Campus Reform. One telling exchange with an administrator who defended the free speech zone:   Continue reading “How Does This Still Happen? Southern Oregon U. Students Not Allowed to Distribute Constitutions”

EDWARD SNOWDENHuffington Post – by Ned Simons

Edward Snowden, the NSA whistleblower who revealed the extent of American and British surveillance programmes, should be charged with murder, according to a senior United States congressman.

Republican Mike Rogers, the chairman of the House of Representatives intelligence committee, told a meeting in the House of Commons in London on Tuesday evening that Snowden was a “traitor” who was now living in the “loving arms” of Russian spies.   Continue reading “Edward Snowden Should Be Charged With Murder, Says Congressman Mike Rogers”

The Obama Democrats want AmnestyMilitia News – by Dr. Ileana Johnson Paugh

The ISIS threat has already been forgotten and the Ebola crisis has been dumped in the lap of the Department of Defense. Climate change has been declared to be the number one threat to our national security. The next manufactured crisis to be resolved is amnesty by fiat.

Soldiers, highly trained to fight wars only, will provide medical containment expertise, testing for Ebola, and hermetic and cremation mortuary services, in place of the local burial rites that have contributed to the rapid spread of Ebola.   Continue reading “The Obama Democrats want Amnesty for 34 Million Illegal Aliens”
