Future Tense – by April Glaser

The iPhone’s Touch ID fingerprint unlocking is one of the most intuitive security features in consumer technology. Strong passwords are hard to remember and annoying to type. And biometric security, like fingerprint IDs, is great for keeping things locked down. But like anything, Touch ID is really great until it isn’t. Your fingerprints are, after all, readily available, and it’s not that hard for someone to force you to press a button to unlock your phone, which, let’s face it, is probably packed with all kinds of private information, like credit card numbers, search histories, or clandestine texts.

Antifa, which is a progressive, anti-fascist, anti-police hate group is making national headlines lately.

The disparate group of masked rioters and protesters have shown up in greater and greater numbers across the country. Their priorities are bound by anti-capitalist, anti-American sentiment and really not much else.

The group is prone to violence, and just this weekend, dozens of its members were arrested for assaulting police officers in Boston with rocks, fists, and bottles of urine.  Continue reading “Petition to Recognize Antifa as Terrorist Organization Gets Tens of Thousands of Signatures”

Smartphone owners who replace smashed screens at third party outlets could be at risk of having their devices hacked, a study has revealed.

Researchers at the University of the Negev have shown that replacement screens for Android smartphones can be manipulated to steal personal information and take control of a repaired device.

The attack, which is almost undetectable, can be used to “severely compromise” a victims’ smartphone, the researchers said.

SINGAPORE (Reuters) – Ten sailors are missing after a U.S. warship collided with an oil tanker east of Singapore before dawn on Monday, tearing a hole beneath the waterline and flooding compartments that include a crew sleeping area, the U.S. Navy said.

The collision between the guided-missile destroyer USS John S. McCain and the tanker Alnic MC was the second involving U.S. Navy destroyers and merchant vessels in Asian waters in little more than two months.

The ships collided while the U.S. warship was heading to Singapore for a routine port call, the Navy said in a statement.   Continue reading “Ten sailors missing after US warship, tanker collide near Singapore”

There is an old Hotel/Pub in Marble Arch, London, which used to have a gallows adjacent to it.

Prisoners were taken to the gallows (after a fair trial of course!) to be hanged.

The horse-drawn dray, carting the prisoner, was accompanied by an armed guard, who would stop the dray outside the pub and ask the prisoner if he would like ”ONE LAST DRINK”.   Continue reading “English History Lessons (through old sayings)”

KANSAS CITY, Missouri, August 17, 2016 (LifeSiteNews) – Catholic father and media professional Steve Sanborn faced down health system apparatchiks who insisted they had a legal right to talk privately with his son and daughter about sex. He has gone on YouTube with a warning to other parents not as suspicious as he is about bureaucratic overreach into parental and family rights.

When Sanborn took his 13-year daughter and 11-year-old son to Children’s Mercy Hospital last month for their annual checkup, he was told they would be seen “privately” by a staff doctor for a few minutes each. “That won’t be happening,” he twice insisted. “Missouri has a new law” that required it, a doctor responded. But when Sanborn held his ground, the doctor backed down.   Continue reading “Catholic father says no way to doctor’s private sex talk with his kids”

The gas gauge broke. There was no smartphone app to tell me how much was left, so I ran out. I had to call the local gas station to give me enough to get on my way. The gruff but lovable attendant arrived in his truck and started to pour gas in my car’s tank. And pour. And pour.

“Hmmm, I just hate how slow these gas cans are these days,” he grumbled. “There’s no vent on them.”

Who would make a can without a vent unless it was done under duress?   Continue reading “How Government Wrecked the Gas Can”
