Zero Hedge – by Tyler Durden

A confidential memo from the United Nations, sent shortly after Trump moved into the White House, made an “urgent appeal” to the Trump administration that a repeal of Obamacare could violate international law.  Oh yeah, and it would also be racist as well.  Unfortunately, this is not hyperbole.

The letter was written by Dainius Puras whose official title is:

“Special Rapporteur on the right of everyone to the enjoyment of the highest attainable standard of physical and mental health”

With Canada’s housing bubble popping amid the collapse of the country’s largest mortgage lender, it was no surprise that a bailout had been orchestrated, and now we know the source of the $1.5 billion ‘loan’ – 321,000 retired healthcare workers in Ontario.

As we noted yesterday, the stock of Home Capital Group cratered by over 60%, its biggest drop on record, after the company disclosed that it struck an emergency liquidity arrangement for a C$2 billion ($1.5 billion) credit line to counter evaporating deposits at terms that will leave the alternative mortgage lender unable to meet financial targets, and worse, may leave it insolvent in very short notice.   Continue reading “Crashing Canadian Mortgage Lender Bailed-Out By 321,000 Retired Ontario Healthcare Workers”

Dozens of people gathered in downtown Los Angeles on Tuesday to protest the detention of a 54-year-old woman who now faces deportation for living in the country illegally.

Teresa Vidal-Jaime was picked up by federal authorities Monday after a massive drug bust at a Boyle Heights apartment complex where she lives. During the raid, her husband was arrested for drug possession and investigators seized more than 30 pounds of cocaine and $600,000 in cash, according to the U.S. Border Patrol.   Continue reading “Woman swept up in massive cocaine bust in L.A. now faces deportation, spurring protests and anger”

The University of California hid a stash of $175 million in secret funds while its leaders requested more money from the state, an audit released on Tuesday said.

The San Francisco Chronicle reported that the audit found that the secret fund ballooned due to UC Office of the President overestimating how much is needed to run the school system that includes 10 campuses in the state. Janet Napolitano, the former Department of Homeland Security chief, is in charge of the school system.   Continue reading “Napolitano’s UC hid $175 million while demanding money, audit says”

WEB Notes: These guys will come up with any reason to attack Syria. Syria is literally burning right now and you certainly want to remember Isaiah 17:1. Many nations are taking part in the destruction of Damascus and blaming it on terrorists who in reality are paid mercenaries.

Flip this around. What if Iran attacked an “arms depot” in Israel or the US? It would be an act of war. Iran and Syria are allies so this certainly fits that qualification if Iran was even providing arms to begin with.

To understand why it is so difficult to defend computers from even moderately capable hackers, consider the case of the security flaw officially known as CVE-2017-0199.

The bug was unusually dangerous but of a common genre: it was in Microsoft software, could allow a hacker to seize control of a personal computer with little trace, and was fixed April 11 in Microsoft’s regular monthly security update.   Continue reading “Hackers exploited Word flaw for months while Microsoft investigated”

I’m having trouble describing Oregon’s disturbing statutes and how two courts made excuses to allow law enforcement to circumvent our Constitution.

This month, an Oregon Appeals court agreed with a district court ruling which forces first responders to become state actors.

“Oregon statue 676.260 says a health care facility “shall notify” a law enforcement officer in the course of treatment when a person’s blood person’s blood alcohol level exceeds .08 percent or their blood contains a controlled substance.”   Continue reading “Feds force hospitals to report alleged DUI patients to police”

WEB Notes: Our elected officials are fools. I am sorry, but they are. These people come up with a half cocked idea to build some wall along the Mexican border with no means to fund the project. Now they look for ways to fund the project; first it was to make Mexico pay for it from the mouth of Senior Trump. Of course he has no negotiations with the Mexican government about that, but hey he is a reality TV star folks. If he says it you will believe it. That did not work out so well, so the clowns in office huddled once again and their latest play from the playbook of fools… They want to rob another bandit in order to fund the wall. The insanity does not stop. All they need to do is stop government funded programs to illegals and you solve the problem on your own.

The big announcement of the really, really big Trump Tax Plan with the “biggest tax cuts in history” came out bigly on Wednesday, as Trump promised. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and National Economic Council Director Gary Cohn, Trump’s latest tax team, beamed proudly as they presented their baby. The stock market took a deep breath, then looked at their brainchild and completely petered out.

First, let me say, I clearly have nothing to recant from my earlier predictions about Trump’s tax plan. The plan that came out looks almost exactly as I thought it would — the only difference being that it is far more pathetic.   Continue reading “Tiny Trump Hands Deliver Teeny Tiny Tax Plan, US Stocks Collapse in Despair”

MIDDLETOWN, Del. (AP) — A man suspected of fatally shooting a Delaware state trooper has been shot and killed by officers after an overnight standoff, state police said Thursday. The man, who has not been identified, walked out of the home where he had been holed up since the fatal shooting of the trooper a day earlier, “engaged officers” and was shot by law enforcement and died at the scene, police said in a statement. Police planned a news conference Thursday afternoon to release more details.

The man had been barricaded inside the home since Wednesday afternoon, not long after Cpl. Stephen J. Ballard, 32, was shot several times after he approached a vehicle in the parking lot of a Wawa convenience store near Bear.   Continue reading “Police: Trooper slaying suspect shot dead after barricade”

MILFORD, Pa. (AP) — The bell atop the Pike County Courthouse last tolled the fate of a condemned killer in the 1980s. On Wednesday, it rang again. Eric Frein, the would-be revolutionary who shot two Pennsylvania troopers, one fatally, in a late-night attack at their barracks, was sentenced to death late Wednesday. The jury’s decision that Frein should die by lethal injection brought a shouted “yes!” from a gallery that included high-ranking state police brass, the slain officer’s mother and the trooper who suffered debilitating injuries after Frein shot him with a high-powered rifle.  Continue reading “Trooper ambush killer sentenced to death in Pennsylvania”

DALLAS (AP) — United Airlines says it will raise the limit — to $10,000 — on payments to customers who give up seats on oversold flights and will increase training for employees as it deals with fallout from the video of a passenger being violently dragged from his seat.

United is also vowing to reduce, but not eliminate, overbooking — the selling of more tickets than there are seats on the plane. The airline made the promises Thursday as it released a report detailing mistakes that led to the April 9 incident on a United Express plane in Chicago.  Continue reading “United raising limit on payments to bumped flyers to $10,000”
